One of my universities called me requesting copies of my income tax forms and W2 forms. Does that mean I am getting accepted already? I have heard that when they ask for your finacial information is when they have decided to accept you. Is that true??

Not necessarily. At Uchicago, they seem to work out the financial aid application at the same time as the admissions application. I've seen deferred and rejected people say they were asked for additional financial aid forms.

Yeah I got the same request from one of the Ivies I am applying to as well. I doubt it means anything other than the fact that the college is trying to assess my income bracket for admissions purpose.

Could it be they are just making sure your application is complete?

Yeah, a lot of universities REQUIRE that information when they're processing your application, especially if they're not need-blind (some consider your income when they decide wether to accept your or not).
