Are acceptances different if I applied to Columbia College and Fu Foundation?

And if I only applied to the Fu Foundation, if I wanted to change to a Math major would I be able to get into Columbia College?

And if I only applied to the Fu Foundation, if I wanted to change to a Math major would I be able to get into Columbia College?

From what I have heard, no. You will have to apply as a transfer student to Columbia College.

So only apply to Fu Foundation if you are sure you want to do some kind of engineering.

true..Fu for engineering, Columbia College for the rest.

Thanks! That works perfectly for me, because when I first started applying I was interested in engineering but I changed to Math and it was too late to change that app. Good thing I got into my number one :D

so did you get an email or letter

Applied math is a major under SEAS. If you are interested in that, you can definitely major in that. Or you can concentrate in math, which means you still need an engineering and/or applied science major.

i got into columbia ed, but i have people telling me that they already know that they got in regular. i thought regulars didn't find out until April 1... anyone know if any regular decisions have come out yet?

No, regular decisions are out March 31 along with the rest of the Ivies. People who have gotten in know because they got likely letters.

@ vracing : no official confirmations before 31st but likely letters are as good..

could someone explain exactly what a "likely letter" means? i got one. it said that i should expect favorable word come the 31st. does this mean that i'm in?

it seems like it would be a bit of a jerk move to tell someone that they should expect to get in, and then reject them. who knows though.

I got a likely letter, too. If you search through the other pages on the general Columbia forum, you should find some discussion on likely letters. Anyways, they are basically "guarantees of admission provided that you sustain your current academic standing." So, congratulations are in order! I am going to assume that you are continuing to work hard and study, so I hope to see you in the fall!

haha... well thank you. and the same to you! whether or not i see you next year in the fall has a lot to do with what goes down on march 31st; we shall see soon enough. i'm just concerned about my financial aid award right now, i was not exactly prompt in providing my family's tax returns (although i did get my CSS profile and fafsa in pretty early).
