How selective is IU’s BFA program in MT nowadays? I read that lately on 10-12 have been accepted, but how many audition? Should it be considered a ‘reach’ or ‘fit’ for most kids? What percentage of auditionies are accecpted? Thanks.

I do not know how accurate the number auditioned is, but this is what is listed on the big thread of “how many accepted/class size” or whatever the title is…

Indiana 315/10 (accept 12-15)

I know their website says they take 10-15 (it says 10-14 somewhere else on the site, but meh) to try to yeild 10 for the musical theatre program, and 315 sounds about accurate to me. If I’m not mistaken, Indiana also requires a prescreen before a callback, so I don’t know how many people are then called back for on campus audition.

Hope someone can be more specific, but I thought I’d try! :)

I believe there’s a 1.2% chance that you’ll be accepted, but of course, that varies within gender.

IU receives about 350 video applications and invites about half to audition I believe. They accept around 15 for a class of about 10. The classes vary in size… 11 seniors, 12 juniors, 9 sophomores and 10 freshmen. They like to keep the program pretty small.

This year only 98 have invited to audition on campus this year. Just FYI.
