Acceptances and Yields - Anyone heard anything?

Funny to start seeing the posts about the Class of 2010 when 2009 isn't yet complete.

My question - my son is still on the Waiting List - getting his Eagle Badge tonight so I'm hoping this ups his "score" a little bit. Has anyone heard what the "yield" is at West Point this year? That is, what percentage of those accepted to West Point are actually going to West Point? I know it's still early but I thought some info may have leaked out of the Admissions Office - they should have some feel for it by how many have turned down their appointments.

Thanks in advance for any information you might have to share.

in previous years, the rule of thumb is they offer appointments to close to 1450 people for a class of (targeted) 1200.... not quite sure how many make it off the NWL

Bond,

Hate to burst your bubble, but the way I understand it, nothing changes on the file after 28 February, the date the file had to be completed. Congratulations to your son for achieving Eagle Scout though, that's a huge honor. Keep up hope, if he's meant to be there...it'll happen.

Have you contacted your MALO or Regional Commander for his place on the NWL? They usually are pretty straightforward about your chances...

Bond,

All I have heard is that if there is an update to the file, you should let Admissions know about it right away. My understanding is that the deadline of 2/28 is to submit a complete file. But additions, such as medical, athletic letters received, and team captain for a spring sport should be added and are welcome. I'll bet Eagle Scout is included in the kind of information WP would like to receive.

Good luck! I know how hard the waiting is - especially when you're so close.
