Acceptances are out!

Will you send it FedEx? My son gave a prepaid FedEx envelope to his gc. Note that there is a separate address for hand delivered mail.

is there a deadline to submit it? nothing on the app status site indicates a date needed by. i would assume the sooner they get the sooner a final decision, but will check main site to see if i can find a date to give gc

Parent 56, McGill has rolling admission. Some qualified applicants get turned down when the programs become full. It is still early so that won’t be a problem for you.

I sent in my midyear report about ten days ago to the
845 Sherbrooke Street West
Montreal, Canada H3A 2T5
address. do i need to send it again and put James Administration Building, Room 205
? :S

Pbbuff, you should call McGill and ask them –just to be safe. I imagine they have this happen all the time. If you sent the grades by messenger, they should be there and show up on Minerva. If they were mailed they might not have been logged in yet.
I would call McGill.

The “Ready for Review” makes me so anxious!

I have a little bit of an issue though. I sent in two reference letters because I applied for scholarship, and on Minerva it says I sent three. I think it’s because my guidance counselor sent a letter with my midyear report or something like that. That letter is definitely not as encompassing as the other two. Any advice on what I should do? Should I just leave it?

tkdkid, The guidance counselor’s letter usually describes your high school, so it is a good thing that it was sent. Both my son’s gc’s sent letters. My son applied in mid November and his high school has sent many students to McGill. An early application ,familiar school, and high SAT scores most likely explains his quick decision.

I have three questions:

 1. Why would the English grade matter more than other classes and other grades?
 2. What form do I use to send in Mid Year grades? The common app form? But, McGill doesn’t use common app. Is the form on their website? Also, my school uses trimesters, and the second trimester doesn’t end for another month/ month and a half. Should I just turn in my first trimester grades of this year to fulfill Mid Year report?
 3. Is there “Further Review Required” only because I haven’t sent in my mid year grades? Or would they have accepted regardless if I had turned them in, because, in theory, I had good enough standardized test scores/ grades?

Thanks!

I’m assuming you’re talking about Arts, which I guess is more humanities driven more than anything else, so that’s why. For engineering it makes more sense for Mathematics grades to count more, Science to have strong science grades, etc.

I just asked my school to send in my mid year report to McGill

I think that’s why you have Further Review Required, because you haven’t sent them in yet, but the thing I really want to know is when did you send in your application? My application was created 12/12 and everything was sent in by the 5th of January (except mid years) and it still says Ready for Review for me

Rolling admissions still rolling along.

HS’s mid-year report received by McGill early January.

DS received acceptance e-mail yesterday to Arts and Sciences.

Yahooo!!!

Kei

^ congrats! can you post his stats?
and when does it say the application was created?
mine is STILL ready for review… :x

I applied back in November and they received my transcripts on 12th November…

I live in the middle east studying in a British School so the grades system is a bit different…dont know if that makes a difference…

The “Ready for Review” makes me nervous everytime! Its like “Why havent they reviewed it yet!?”

Hey, I’m a student living outside North America. I’m a canadian citizen. I am an IB Student.

SAT Score: 1890
Unweighted Cumulative GPA: 3.7
IB Predicted Scores: Not Sure… But they shouldn’t be low…

I applied to the Neuroscience and Microbiology&Immunology programs and got rejected due to limited space available.

I also applied to the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Faculty of Science (Life Sciences, Biology, etc program). It says “Further Review Required.” The problem is that my GPA for my first semester of 12th grade (the GPA on my mid-year report) is around a 3.35…

What are my chances my getting in to McGill? (and will my Mid-Year report affect my chances of making it?)

Accepted for Management - Bachelor of Commerce!!

My first acceptance, so happy :)

^When did you apply? and what were ur stats?

pbbuff said: "^ congrats! can you post his stats?

I’m an international applicant (from Hong Kong) and I’m a Canadian.

My school does IB, and here’s the stats from my latest transcript:

Music [Higher] - 7

That’s 39/42, which is 93% without the bonus points.

My SATs are:

SAT I (best sections):

Critical Reading: 630
Math: 750
Writing: 690

SAT II:

Math Ic - 710
Math IIc - 700
Chinese w/ Listening - 800

hope this helps!!

clevermagician2, i am so envious of you! congrats! my mid-year report is taking forever to be sent out… hopefully it will go out soon enough. i also hope it doesn’t end in a rejection =/

good luck coolkitkat!!
i guess every school finishes their semesters/terms at different times. my school finishes in early january, so the report was sent and received around mid-january, which meant that i could receive an earlier decision
so no worries!! i wish the best for you :)
