Acceptances: Celebrate, discuss, support here

From a lurker parent - too shy to post much -
DS got in to Chicago!!!
Much joy in our house!

D. got TWO acceptances in the mail yesterday and she's so excited. Santa Clara with a nice merit offer and Notre Dame. I had the same reaction that many of you did--insanely happy and then sad when I realized that meant she's not going to be around the house next year and how much I'll miss her.

Even her little brother admitted he's going to miss her a lot, in spite of having the car all to himself.

She's got one more safety and her two other reach schools RD so she isn't making any decisions until spring.

D got into Harvard. Thanks to all the people who gave advice.

dhmom -- a special "LURKER CONGRATS!" to you!

citygirlsmom -- you're one of those whose posts are everywhere -- almost feel like I know you -- Congratulations to your D!

And Mombot, nomadmom, zzzz, and NJres -- congratulations to you as well!

This is my third kid, but the first time I've had one apply early anywhere. It's a nice feeling to "have one in the bag" (two for some of you!) already, isn't it????

thanks mstee (great name...play mstee for me) anyway. yeah, but strangley D was grumpy this morning...she is really torn between the two schools...and if another one comes in...yikes

anyway, lve this site, have gotten SOOO much good advice....when I can read something that says, hey, we all haven't gotten anythingh either, or it will work out...it helps a lot

take care all, and this is my first to go away...sigh...

Dhmom, congratulations and welcome to the parents forum

Now for the hard part as as I don't want to miss anyone.

oh gosh, please don't let me have a senior moment where i have forgotten someone. but to everyone congratulations. Nice little holiday presents that your kids have racked up.

Congratulations to All!! This is so exciting, I love sharing in everyone's good news!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukuh!!

Son accepted to Purdue yesterday. He is so busy studying for finals he just shrugged his shoulders. He is waiting for Rice, Carnegie Mellon,MIT, USC, U of Washington, and all the UC's. We would never qualify for aid so decisions will have to depend on merit. We have two more after him to go so need to think of the money first. Plus in our area you have to go to a private high school and they run 12-27K (more than many colleges). Congrats to everyone who is happy with their choices.

Congrats on this initial round of acceptances!! Enjoy this time with them, senior year was really special for all of mine...sometimes wish we could do it all again. Sometimes!

Again, happy, happy days and holidays for all!!!

Kat

Just had to brag a bit. My youngest D just got her acceptance to the University of Tennesee. It's her first choice and obviously she's on cloud 9.

Big congrats, you're both done!

Go Vols!!!!!!!!!!

Awwwwwwww, what an exquisite Christmas present!!! MAJOR CONGRATS to your D!!!!!!!

Now she can sit back and enjoy the rest of her senior year! :)

~berurah

Congrats!!!!!

OK, Berurah. This is the first time I have actually been jealous of your ability to use the fonts and colors. I'm sitting here in my bright orange Tennessee sweatshirt, but don't know how to do the orange font!
Congrats on the UT acceptance. I am VERY impressed with the flagship u of my new home state. And the sweatshirts are awesome!

Great!

It's wonderful to hear stories about students who are actually going to have the opportunity to attend the colleges they really wanted.

Mission accomplished.

Congratulations!!!! How wonderful for you, thanks for letting us know.

Well, our son is done!!! Accepted ED at Miami U., EA at Case Western and at Bowling Green. Received word of University Honors for Miami today, so he is going to be a Redhawk in the Fall.
