where are you from in NJ? I am from NJ too! I got accepted to CSU as well, but I haven’t decided if I am going to enroll yet, but it would make me feel so much better to know that someone from the east coast might be going as well!

Daughter got into both Colorado State and Oklahoma State…cant decide. CSU is beautiful is perfect for the outdoor lover that enjoys skiing hiking, and healthy lifestyle, good academics, great town of fort collins. Greek life not as popular and sports are OK but I’ve heard very fun! OSU seems to be a bit different. Great sports, strong Greek life, good academics as well. Town seems to be fine, but def. not like fort collins and surrounding mountains. Any input would be appreciated.
She wants to major in Health promotion/Cardiac rehab.

Where are you from hoosier? (Indiana maybe?) Your D applying to IU or Purdue? We’re from the East coast and though Colorado State is far, I’m thinking, for my son, Oklahoma State would be more of a culture shock. Our down is quite diverse and eclectic and he wrote off all the big southern schools that fit into his profile. Kids from here don’t stray too far inland, although some like a few choice popular south eastern schools.

Hi Hoosier6
My DD visited CSU and really liked it. Ft. collins is a very vibrant town–exciting downtown, lots of restaurants, brewpubs (for when they’re older of course!), healthy economy. She liked the kids she met too. Less OOS than CU-Boulder but most people apparently stay on campus–not at all suitcase. CSU is very strong in health sciences.

Thank you so much for your insight! I was wondering about the whole culture shock thing too. We are actually from a suburb right outside of Chicago, very much like Ft. Collins from what I understand…w/o the mountains of course (Her bro. goes to Indiana U thats where hoosier comes from) Visiting CU on Dec. 3. Daughter has always wanted to go to school in Colorado. Seems like a fairly easy commute…many flights daily and hourly shuttles to and from airport. How were the dorms and where do the freshman mostly live??

Accepted
4.0 UW GPA
25 ACT
Lot’s of EC’s and strong essay
From Oregon
Also got accepted to Northeastern (boston), and Penn State
Still deciding :)

Ft. Collins is a really nice town. I would say that OSU would be more of a culture shock, from what i have heard it is a very country-like place, whereas CSU is a more outdoor liberal green town.

Accepted 11/23
GPA 4.4
ACT 28
Mechanical or Civil Engineering

We’re from the Chicago area and our son is thrilled to be going to CSU.
He’s a lacrosse player and will be studying environmenal engineering. I’m telling everyone that once he lands in Fort Collins, he’ll never be coming back:)
(can’t say that I blame him – we all love Colorado!)
