acceptances/class of 2011

Hello! Does anyone know when acceptance letters go out? Since UPitt has rolling admissions, how quickly are the applications processed? When do students find out about merit $? Any insight/information is appreciated! Thanks!

I think that the earliest acceptances are sent out in early October. My daughter applied late last August, and rec'd her acceptance about Oct 1.

Acceptances start on October 1st....(from an Admissions presenter i heard earlier this month)

My D was accepted on October 11. Probably the turnaround was 10-12 days from the time her application was complete (she filed online). Her acceptance letter says that she will be considered for merit aid, but it doesn't offer a timetable.

I recieved my acceptance from the University of Pittsburgh around this time last year and my information about merit scholarships came about the end of october (around october 20ish)

Waterpolo..Thanks for your imput...Congrats on receiving a merit award! May I please ask you what were your stats last year when you applied? Good to know that you find the honors college to be worthwhile! (It's not for everyone.)

I had a 35 on the ACT. SAT: 790 M 670 V 670 W. Class Rank: 1/550 ...ohh and I dont think it is mandatory that you take honors classes if you live in the honors housing either so if your worried about the honors classes don;t let that keep you from appying for the honors housing if you are considering it.

I'm waiting on mine (hopefully). Should get notification within the next week or two.

Does anyone know when merit aid letters go out? Reading some of the posts from last year, some students heard within a short time after receiving their acceptance letter and honors college letter.. I wonder if that will be the case this year....And, is merit aid (i.e.,partial tuition) also decided by the Scholarship Committee - or is the Committee only determining the Chancellor's? Any insight/info is appreciated.....Thanks!

the way it worked for me was i was notified within two weeks of recieving my acceptance that I had recieved a merit scholarship and I had to fill out an additional form for the chancellors scholarship. So i believe my merit scholarship was earned by my test scores and grades.

Add my D to the list of accepted students! She got the large envelope today. It was her first app and her first acceptance, so it's pretty exciting. She applied on-line on Oct 3rd, so it was about a two-week turnaround. Her letter said that she is eligible to participate in UHC and that info from them would arrive separately.

And she said just yesterday that she'd really like to go to Pitt!

Now we're just waiting for the money........

I was accepted today (oct 31), but the letter was dated oct 24
I applied oct 16.
