I was curious as to whether the acceptances are sent out through priority mail and the rejections through regular mail. Would that mean that acceptances would be received faster? I live in PA (about a half hour from CMU) and have not received my decision yet but some people from other states seen to have. How does this work?

No, they might have simply printed out the acceptance letters first. Or maybe USPS decided to dispatch teh fat envelopes first.

Chill.

I’m pretty sure that they don’t mail acceptances first… It’s all mixed. The priority mail/regular mail thing does seem plausible, though, since the thin letters are just basic envelopes. Plus, acceptances have already reached much further parts of the US…

Received an acceptance in MA today and it was sent USPS Priority Mail.

Oh. I suppose that most likely means I’m rejected. =/

Pheonix, I’m in the same situation. I wonder, has anyone received a rejection letter yet?

sunchaser,

Did your online CMU Application Check change at all? Apparently, the acceptance/rejection letter will be posted under Documents Sent with the date it was sent.

on my documents sent page there is no “admissions letter” or any other document sent to me

in fact, this is the last document I see on the page:
27-jan-2011 Making Student Connections

Am I one of the people they forgot to send stuff to? I live 2-3 hrs from cmu so I was kind of expecting the decision today ughhhh

'Mail just came here (in Pittsburgh). Nothing today.

Askingaquestion, I think they posted on the Facebook page that the website isn’t showing letter dates for some reason.

do you guys mind posting your stats and if your mail came or not.

just checked mail no cmu, my stats are 1460 m+cr, 800 chem, 780 math 2, top 10%

I just want to see figure out if they sent out acceptances first, or its random

@thepal

I just checked my Where Am I In The Process? and the last thing listed that was sent is Making Student Connections 27-jan-2011.

Don’t have any hooks…

I was thinking… Perhaps we haven’t seen any rejections posted on here for obvious reasons. If you’re admitted, the first thing you do is go on CC. If you’re rejected, that most likely is the last thing you’ll do. The admits are the vocal ones.

yep could be,

Son recieved priority " This is the official FAT envelope" today

Honestly no one should worry, I know i was accepted (an athletic coach notified me early) and I still have not received my letter. I live on the east coast, about 5 hours away from cmu. They probably just sent them out in batches.

Is UPS mail different from standard regular mail? 'Cause I usually get mail at 3pm , but I didn’t get anything. Does UPS mail have its own timings?

yakyarm, you’re from Memphis, TN? The mail hasnt arrived yet, but now im kinda nervous…

EDIT: btw since I scouring through the forum I haven’t notice anyone say rejection or anything yet… so it sounds plausible that they just sent rejections out through regular mail. But then again if I just got rejected posting on this forum isn’t one of the first things I would want to do.
