Acceptances, Rejections, Waitlists

Hi, I'm starting this thread because I just received a letter in the mail today.
I'm pretty perturbed/distraught/saddened by the news that I was waitlisted for the incoming Class of 2009.

Congratulations to all acceptees!

Here are my stats:

1390 SAT I

770 Literature / 800 Math IIc / 760 Writing

3.6 UW GPA

Recommendations: could've been mediocre, will never know
Essay: about my work with Special Ed kids

E.C.s: Drum Major, 3 years. State-level musician. Athlete.

Perhaps 'twas the GPA that eventually hurt me. I'm pretty sad, I loved this school and thought I had a great chance for admittance.

Current Acceptances: UCLA, UCSD

poop. G'luck everyone.

I received my acceptance letter today too!

Good Job, Oedipus.

But I wasn't accepted. I was waitlisted

abitdiscouraged, you were wait listed this late?

? I don't understand... did they waitlist earlier?

Well, I know that sometimes colleges will send letters to those that are waitlisted a couple of weeks before RD letters are mailed.

No, I just received my letter in the mail, and I live on the West Coast.

... still perturbed/bummed. BLAH

I was accepted :)

Accepted! I wept when I opened the letter. It's been nothing but disappointment the past few days - waitlisted at Smith, "unlikely" at Wellesley, and no early writes.
ACT: 32
SAT Lit: 770. Writing: 740. US History: 650
GPA: 3.99
Recs: Stellar.
ECs: Creative Writing - 3 poems, 1 short story, and a libretto published. Political work at the Evergreen State College.

I think I'm going to go!

Yay! I got accepted! This was the first college I've heard from in this hectic late March admissions season. Glad it was good news.

The stupid stuff:

GPA: 3.7ish
SAT 1: 690 Verbal, 660 Math
SAT 2s: 660 Writing, 650 Math 1C, 590 Spanish
ECs: Drama, Newspaper, Football, Gay-Straight Alliance, Film Criticism

zahra, you mean some colleges actually give out "unlikely" letters? That's horrible!

I haven't heard from SLC yet, but I'm an international so maybe that takes longer . . .

I got waitlisted too. I wonder how long this waitlist is....

I got in. Unfortunately, they gave me about $2,000 in financial aid total so it's not even an option at this point.

Does any one know why SLC is so expensive? They gave me a little over 20K in financial aid but the total cost to go there is 44K.

I was rejected. =(

But then I already have good offers from Bard and Oberlin, so I'm not upset. Hard choice between the two, though.

woohoo. my first acceptance letter.

Wait'll you see my messed up stats:

3.2 Weighted GPA
1400 SAT, (760 Math, 640 Verbal) 600 Writing, 710 BIO, 690 M1

EC: Editor of yearbook, newspaper... international brain bee stuff, mock trial stuff.. basically every EC my school offers.

i think maybe my essays did it.. they were excessively long. haha.

on the bottom of my letter thyra briggs wrote...

"Welcome neil!
you are a gifted writer -
see you in fall"

do you think she meant it?... did she write on everyone's?

you guys might be ****ed of considering i don't have good writing sat./along with the horrible gpa....

was expecting my first rejection letter but got accpeted by slc instead. its a little crazy. like playing darts with your back to the board and hitting bulll's eye. i had 1200 sat 1, and though sat 2 was fab i didnt send it :O.....didnt sned my toefl and that analytical paper they asked for either..on top of all of that i sent in my f.aid papers on march 14th...wayyyyy after the deadlines.
Theyre giving me 28,000 in aid--which has left me with my jaw open.
Ive been inconsistent at school and even missed a whole year (grade 10) because of reasons beyond my control (was holed up at a loonybin for some of that time).

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!!! cant wait to go! and i here i was thinking i would have to go to drexel or mcny... other to-be-freshers feel free to contact me!

yea i got that too..no other school does that! mine said 'we hope you join us at slc and pursue knowledge "like a feral cat"' (the last part was from MY ESSAY..how nifty is that???)

Mine said: "I can see from your very impressive and comprehensive home-school program that you are an individual who highly values her education. Sarah Lawrence will let you expand your horizons while maintaining your self direction."

Mm, I was rejected. Quick stats:

1570 SAT (770M/800V), 800 Writing/800 Math IIC/800 French Lst
GPA ~3.6 (I converted it; we're on a different scale)
Accepted so far by: NYU, Williams

Congratulations to all acceptees! I thought SLC looked really interesting and decided to give it a shot ... no such luck, it seems :P
