Acceptances/Rejections

Within my letter from TCNJ, there was a scholarship offer. They offered me $5,000 per year, with an addition $1500 stipend for a study abroad program.

Thanks for the info, Xeneise.

Does anyone know if tcnj notifies you if you applied for a scholarship but didn't get one? Also, are people typically getting their scholarship offer before or after the honors program letter? Thanks again, and sry for all the questions.

Was there a seperate application for the honors program, or are all applicants considered? I didn't get a letter yet but I would be interested in it, wondering if I missed out. I did do the scholarships essays, and according to the TCNJ website, the minimum requirements are 1350 M CR or top 5% of your class, of which I have both.

Xeneise: They send you the application for the honors program sometime after your acceptance letter if you are eligible for it. Don't worry. You didn't miss out. It looks like you will get one. Just for the heads up though, it requires essays and teacher recommendations.

Does anyone know if it would be ok if we send them the same recommendations that were in our application?

njstudent -- the actual form gives you separate papers that the recommenders have to fill out. Under the instructions, it specifically states that they do not want general recommendation letters and instead want them specficially for the Honors Program. Read through the packet again.

I was thinking about the honors program, too, but I decided against it because at TCNJ the honors program really doesn't do much. At another school I would consider it more heavily, but at TCNJ it's just a few courses that I wouldn't even bother taking anyway (Honors Chemistry? Goodwives and Witches?)

I heard yesterday- I got in... no scholarship though.

browneyedbeauty: did it actually say that you didn't get a scholarship? or are you just assuming that since the offer didn't come with the acceptance letter?

njstudent- i just assumed. everybody i talked to (who got a scholarship), said it came with the acceptance letter.

browneyedbeauty- really? i was thinking that some ppl got it with the acceptance letter and some ppl got it later (that is how rutgers does it at least). i thought they would tell us if we didn't get a scholarship b/c we filled out the scholarship app and everything. i'm in the same boat you are then. i didn't get a scholarship with my letter but i was sort of expecting one. did you apply for the 7-year med program by any chance? cause that changed the time-table a bit, and i think that might have something to do with it. not sure though.

njstudent, you were right, i recieved a letter for the honors program :-)

I still haven't heard. I really hope its soon

Is it fair to assume that the self-service letter is an indication of acceptance in the near future? We still aren't able to "accept admission" on the site yet, but received the letter 3/2. Vry nerve-racking. My thinking is ..why bother to issue User ID's and passwords if rejection was the ultimate decision. However, we all know what happens when we assume. Thankfully, UD decion came this week and was favorable, so we have that, Monmouth U, and Rowan to fall back on. Oh, and Loyola in Md. we haven't heard from either. Congrats to those who have already been accepted to TCNJ. Keeping my fingers crossed for my D.

Sorry- self service letters go out to everybody. And just so you don't drive yourself crazy over the "Accept Admission" page... I received my acceptance in the mail days before it appeared online.

Accepted for class of 2011, attending.
GPA: 3.8 UW
SATs: 2220
SAT iis: 710 Spanish, 790 USH
Pretty good extracurriculars.

My decision was finally posted online today!

GPA: 3.7 UW
SATs: 2230
SAT IIs: 750, 750
Average ECs

Im probably not going, because I got into the Honors Program and a nice scholarship from Tulane.

The letter came today.Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Can you spell r-e-j-e-c-t-i-o-n? My D was a little shaken, but shrugged it off because letter from Marist today was favorable and because Delaware was and still is her preference. I know it was her SATs that sunk her because she was strong otherwise.

Susan R.
Sorry about TCNJ. Sounds like it could have been the SAT that was the cause. So great that she has several fine alternatives to choose from.

Musicmom, Thank you for your kind words. I know you're right about the SATs, they were her downfall. Even with a course, study aids, and hrs .of preperation, she bombed. I am philosophical about it. It just wasnt meant to be. I think it was MY dream school for her, not the otherway around. :-) Best of luck to your S or D.

Still haven't heard by either letter or online. I don't understand what is taking so long. I know a couple of other people who got accepted on the 24th of March. I seriously feel like i am the only one left. It sucks because a couple of days ago i got an e-mail saying that the Bio major is full and i had to change it to Psych.

I haven't gotten a response yet either. I think I am right on the boderline, but I imagine they must have made a decision on me by now. I expect to hear by April 1st because that is what it said in a letter they sent me.

were u a bio major as well?? browngold? I'm not even sure if i'm going there. Might go to monmouth U which actually accepted me as my major. OOOF
