Acceptances, Rejections

Post your stats and info here for Acceptances, Rejections to USD

Daughter just received her acceptance

3.46 GPA, from a highly competitive Catholic HS in the Bay Area
1150 SAT, CR + M, 1800 CR + M+ W
some honors, AP classes, not a ton
fair amount of EC - Mock Trial, Religious leadership, Youth group at Parish
fair amount of Community Service
Summer work intern - Marketing, 2 summers

No money for merit
FYI - the acceptance letter states that a small amount of money is awarded for Merit in your acceptance letter, and there is nothing there, so I am assuming that means no. She did recieve some money for Merit from Gonzaga and University of Portland.

Wow, no offense or anything (and I'm kind of upset), but I had better everything (besides a slightly lower gpa) and I was rejected. It was my top choice and everything.

dbsilverman24, are you Catholic? (Guessing not, based on your user name.) BACAMom's daughter went to a Catholic high school, so that may have been a plus for her. I would think that if candidates have similar stats then religion might make the difference. Could be that the slight difference in gpa played a part as well. As it was your top choice, I hope that you will definitely appeal their decision. Good luck.

I didn't get a letter, I got a phone call from a current student. She left a voicemail telling me I was accepted.

accepted today! yay!

3.52 uw
25 act

Nothing yet...
is it by email or mail?
Does this probably mean I'm rejected?-_-

i havent gotten a reply back yet!
i have literally almost the exact same stats. as your daughter
(higher sat score)
its my first choice

I just got acccepted today. sit tight.

Accepted last week!

Unweighted: 3.45

Sat: 1820
Reading- 550, Math- 610, Writing- 660, Essay- 10

I was suspended also... I thought that would hurt my chances a lot!

Not many ECs... 60 hours of community service... medium amount of Honors and AP classes. I guess my essay and letter of rec. were good.

My stepson just got a letter saying he is "wait listed". Anyone know what the chances might be?

a neighbor of ours got accepted to usd off the waitlist last year, in early May. last year, and the year before, various schools throughout the country got caught short, as so many admitted students declined enrollment. so, while I think every school handles its wait list very differently, there may be a cycle to it. if they were short last year, they may offer fewer waitlist this year, and vica versa. there is definate hope to the waitlist at usd, though, I would think. but to be honest, who knows??!!

this neighbor called and talked to his admission counselor, and went to meet with him, his grades went up senior year, which probably helped.

I would think if the student called and talked to them, or wrote them a letter, and told them usd was the #1 choice, why you are a good fit, and why they should admit you, it would help. they may also tell you if they rank the waitlist, and chances.

good luck!

accepted last week.

waitlisted last week
just wondering, but if you tell them that you want to keep being on the waitlist and you end up getting in, are you obligated to go?

No, you are not obligated to go. It would be smart to only tell them that you want to remain on the list if you really intend to go , if accepted. Otherwise, clear the way for those who absolutely want to go to USD.

any word on waitlist status...has anyone heard anything yet???

when do we find out?
