Didn't see a thread for this. Son got a Big Packet today in the mail, an acceptance and named as a Presidential Scholar. It's a safety, but still cool.

Congratulations, TrinSF! My D was accepted -- as a "Georgia M. Wilkins Scholar" -- and has sent in her deposit. She turned down DePauw and UT-Austin Plan II acceptances and healthy scholarships. I think she knew she wanted to go to Sewanee the very first time she visited there. Some people just "know" I guess.

I got accepted. Probably going. Need to visit Gettysburg, and Roanoke and Hampden-Sydney (scholarship money) though.

I was accepted, and I'm going if I can convince my parents it's not just because they have the best meal plan of any four year college in America.

Congratulations to all of you!
My son is considering The University of the South -
Can you tell me what your SAT scores were?
He is National Honors Society, 95 average, but scored only 540 (verbal) 660 (math) on his first try. I think he can get that verbal up a bit.
I am curious to know your scores!

Rigolinr, I don't know that son's scores are helpful. Sewanee was purely a safety for my son, and his scores were above the usual for the school. He's 3.9 unweighted, with SAT's in mid-high 700's.

SAT 25-75th percentile is 1170-1320, so he would by slightly below average, but well within the range of most students.

I had a 1390, but my GPA was 3.35. I'm honestly surprised that I got in.

TrinSF are you going To Sewanee:The University Of The South ?

Rebel: No, I'm a parent, which is why I keep saying "my son". My son isn't attending, he's going to Reed. Sewanee was a way way safety for him; I made him apply because I used to spend time there when I was a teen.

Oops!!!
Anyway, has he already withdrawn from Sewanee ?

Rebel: No, we've been busy. Those are ready to go out, but haven't been sent. I hope you're not one of those people who thinks "every person who declines frees up a waitlist spot", because it's not true.

Harsh, TrinSF.

Congrats to all the Sewannee-ans (sorry, I don't know your mascot)! My daughter's roomie from high school just finished up her first year at your school and had a superb time.
