karenteic - My D hasn't received anything in the mail from Hartt yet, and we're west-coasters. We live in such a tiny area that it seems to take 5 days for mail to get to us from the East Coast, so we always seem to be the last to hear anything!

Anyway, she did get an interesting email from Hartt yesterday. It started out with "As you begin the final process of choosing among the colleges to which you have been admitted, I want to give you information that will help you learn more about the University of Hartford and what it is like to be a student here. If you decide to enroll at Hartford this fall you will have the choice of several exciting housing options" etc etc etc.

Now, we can't tell if that means she was simply accepted academically to the University, or if it might indicate an acceptance to the Hartt School in MT. We're assuming it is implying that she was academically accepted to the University until we hear anything different.

Anyone else get that email? And if so, have you received an acceptance to the school or to Hartt MT as well? It may be awhile before we get the snail mail rejection or acceptance -- it seems like the post office only uses the Pony Express to our house!

tiffw -- I got that email (or one similar) last year after I was accepted to Hartt. But, of course, that would also mean I was academically accepted to the University, so I can't give you any more info, I'm sorry!

I just got an e-mail saying my letter was mailed today, so I should be receiving it by the beginning of next week. Should I be expecting the worst yet?

tiffw - (last yr. 2007)
My D did not receive that email even though she received the acceptance letter, HOWEVER, her friend DID receive that email (l wk.) PRIOR to her acceptance to 'Acting' letter. Her mom called Hartt to verify acceptance (while receiving only the email). Perhaps if you don't hear anything 2morrow, call them (?).
GOOD LUCK - waiting is so painful I feel for you all.

tiffw - You are lucky you received that email. I asked them today if they could send my D an email since we haven't heard anything and they never responded so not a good sign for us. But definitely for you - sounds like great news!

We kind of went up the rollercoaster at the beginning of the week and are back down now with little response from them. Its tough for my D because she really struggled with math in high school and her grades aren't really adding to her chances at these schools. This is one where she was definitely in the range - gradewise.

I shouldn't feel too bad because she was accepted into Penn State Creative Writing program as a second choice to MT. So she is in somewhere - but she really wanted MT.

Haven't recieved an email or a letter AGHHHH!!! I hate calling schools, but should I call them and ask them about the email? I hope they didn't loose my application again!

AceofSpades post says has seen a lot of acceptances more than 25 already so makes me suspect that acceptances went out much earlier last week. I don't use Facebook - but probably more info on that.

LizMT - I saw your name on an acceptance list already - you should be all set regardless of Hartt! No worries.

I must be getting bolder all the time. I just decided to pick up the phone and call Hartt Admissions to ask a few of the questions we've all had. And there's good news for those of you still waiting to hear! The girl there told me that they while they have sent out a bunch of the letters, they are still processing some, and in fact, still have several hundred to get sent out! She guaranteed that they would all be postmarked to go out by April 1st at the latest. So, if you haven't received your letter yet, they're still in process.

But let me just verify that the mail can be SOOOO ridiculously slow. She checked my D's file and said that her letter was sent out late last week. Hello -- today is THURSDAY! Oh well, maybe we'll get something in today's mail. Or as I mentioned before, maybe all our letters were sent via the Pony Express. That could take awhile . . .

Well, the Pony Express just pulled into town, and brought my daughter an acceptance to Hartt!

And one comment about the number of acceptances so far -- we looked at the Facebook site and could only see about 10-15 kids who've reported getting a Hartt acceptance so far. So hang in there everyone -- it is NOT over yet!

tiffw - the pony express pulled in for us as well - finally - but not good news on our side. I so thought my D had a chance there - especially since her high school music teacher is a doctoral student at Hartt and wrote her recommendation. Bittersweet for us, because we only have one reachable school left which is actually my D's first choice - Emerson. I think NYU and BOCO are out of the picture for her, but also waiting on those. She had a UARTs audition this weekend and I can't convince her to go. But I am so happy for everyone getting placed. At least half of us are getting some happy news.

They were nice at Hartford, the Dean immediately answered me saying my D would get an offer to the regular A&S program and tomorrow I'm going to ask if she might have access to some of their acting/music classes and try again next year. Since it is heavily performing arts, they might have some non-major performance options.

karenteic -- So sorry to hear that. I sincerely wish we could all just spread out any extra acceptances throughout this group to make sure everyone finds a spot. I'll be hoping for Emerson to come through for your D. Good luck the rest of this week!

karenteic - so sorry to hear about your Hartt news and sending you some ((cyberhugs)) in the process. Don't quite give up on NYU and/or BoCo quite yet, and their news is coming soon. They just may be looking to add your D to their incoming freshman class! You know how it goes, it is not over until that famous "fat lady sings".....
