acceptances?

CLF1991 I really feel your pain! :frowning: its kinda ridiculous how messy theyre being with your admission! aghh comforting hug >.< or pole sana, as we say here in africa. Fingers crossed you get admitted soon!

CFL1991:
I am sure you got in! It sounds like some kind of weird ā€œsnafuā€ with the check missingā€¦I think when they find you did send the check, they will be updating your page or calling you with the information. If I were you, I would call them back again later in the day, like around 4 pm and see if they know anything. Keep hounding them but in a nice way! Good luck and keep us all informed!

CFL: Same problem happened to me with the check. Give them your social and tell them to look in both systems. Theyā€™ll find it.

I donā€™t know if any of you have noticed but Freshman admission is still open. It was suppose to close 01/15/2010. My theory is a lot of the top candidates admitted are declining admission. My son was at CU from 2003 until is graduation in 2007. He applied in late February (they extended the deadline at that time, too) and was admitted within three weeks. Iā€™m sure it took them that long to received his supporting documents. College admission has always been a mystery. Iā€™m sure the best-of-the-best will be admitted early. Those applicants with GPAs above 3.5, rigorous coursework and ACT scores of 28 and higher. My daughter applied in late December and received a letter informing her that because her GPA and ACT are not competitive at this phase of the admitting process, an admission decision would not be made until April. Admission speak for wait-listed. Her GPA is 3.4 and her ACT is 26. She applied to the college of A&S, undeclared major. Her coursework is considered rigorous, as well as her summer study abroad. Iā€™m sure she will be one of the last to be admitted, if at all. Luckily CU is not her first choice. Best of luck to all of you. I know you will love CU and Boulder.

@momofcugrad
thatā€™s a bit interesting, because I applied to the engineering school with a 3.2 and 25 ACT (1810 SAT, 1220 M+CR) and got accepted into Liberal Arts insteadā€¦

Accepted ā€¦ finally! Now to wait to see if there are any scholarship offers (we are OOS, so thatā€™s a necessary second step of this process).

Emerica,

I believe the formula (phase I admissions) is GPA below 3.5 then ACT score needs to be 28 or SAT equivalent. Your SAT conversion is 28, i believe. My daughter didnā€™t take the SAT. There could be other aspects of your application that are more appealing to admission officers, too. Itā€™s always the engineering/business applicants who raise the bar with their high GPAs and test scores. Just look at the chart CU posts on its admission criteria site. Congratulations on your admission.

I still donā€™t know! And my page still says application incomplete despite the fact that they told me on Wednesday that it was complete. And no one has called me. I am afraid to call them again.

I just found out that Iā€™m in. What a system.

Well congrats CFL1991!
At least you heard. If itā€™s like me and Rutgers, Iā€™ve still been waiting 4 months and just called and they said to ā€œwait out some moreā€

I hope your parents let you go to CU, Emerica. The Engineering Physics program could persuade them!

Congratulations CFFL 1991! It is about time!

Yea, CFFL 1991~ congratulations!

@CFL1991
I think Iā€™m persuading them a bit. Once I get ahold of someone Iā€™m going to see if itā€™s easier to transfer in from inside the school than outside and maybe theyā€™ll let me go. Theyā€™re encouraging the call so who knows!

CFL1991ā€¦ congratsss! Emericaā€¦ I really hope you can convince your parentsā€¦ we need you !

CFL1991 - Do your research carefully about transfer between schools at CU. Iā€™m under the impression that it is not so easy. Engineering course requirements are usually pretty rigid, so transfer may mean exta semester(s) and cost. So if you go that route, youā€™ll want to plan carefully.

@Colorado_mom
thatā€™s the exact discussion my parents are having now. Iā€™m calling tomorrow (or today technically for me) to see how that transfer is or if I would be better off going somewhere else in the mean time.

So I called and I found out that I missed acceptance by literally 40 points in the math section of the SATs. She did say that sheā€™ll rereview the application come April if not as many engineers enroll as they expected, which is nice :). She did say my grades were fine though and to look into the IUT program as well in case they still canā€™t accept me into the engineering college come April.

But on the plus side (kinda) they had my application go to a team of engineers to see if I would get in, so Iā€™m guessing I was a close call?

CU is my top choice, so Iā€™m fine waiting until April for this! Wish me luck in the mean time!

Emerica: That sounds very encouraging! I have a feeling that come April you will be getting some very good news! Also, since the out of state tuition is so large at CU, there probably is a good chance a lot of admitted students will turn it down due to the cost. Which is great for you! So keep on being patient as you have been doing and it will only be a few months from now! Out here in California the schools do not even let us know until March 31 so April is right after thatā€¦By the way, what other schools did you apply to? Do you have a second choice? What is the IUT program anyway?

Yes I was very happy with the results of the phone call :)

Other schoolsā€¦
Rutgers (rejected for liberal arts?! in process for business and engineering)
Marist (accepted)
NJIT (accepted)
Drexel (accepted)
University of Vermont (deferred)
PennState (processing)
Boston College (processing)
University of Denver (processing)

My second choice was between UVM and Rutgers but since both of them havenā€™t accepted me (yet)ā€¦ Iā€™d say Marist as of right now.

The IUT program is the program I would go through to go from the Liberal Arts College to the Engineering College within the University of Colorado - Boulder campus.
