ACCEPTED 10/17/10 to PSU Engineering for Fall 2011!

My son A got an acceptance letter in the mail today Saturday 10/17/10 to Penn State University Park College of Engineering! At the MyPenn State web page though the decision is not yet posted...I guess it will catch up...Who else got their acceptance letter?

Congrats!!! Is Penn State your son’s first choice?

My son is a 1st year Engr student and is loving it!

Grcxx3: Oh wow we would love to hear more about their engineering program… currently he is deciding between PSU and Mizzou (Mizzou is giving him a 4 year $45K scholarship - I am pretty sure he will get nothing from PSU)… but I have been researching and am seeing that Penn State is probably the better choice academically between the 2… my son wants to major in Biomed Engrng… what type of engineering is your son studying and how difficult is the program? I am worried about if they weed out kids alot… so any info you could give us to help us decide why we should pick PSU would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! (Note my son’s SAT was 1700 (1210 Reading, Math; took it again 1 week ago) with weighted GPA 3.96…I hope that is a good indication that he should do well in the program…

I MEANT THE 16th !!! 10/16/10 got the letter.

You’ll get the “weedout” at any major school like Penn State. They have hundreds of wannabe engineers in their freshmen class every year. The Calculus classes and physics classes work to weed them out. Most of the material is inherently difficult to begin with, but it does wonders at thinning out those students not serious about their studies or just lack the background to do well in a college setting.

to the OP, what were your son’s academic stats? (GPA, AP, SAT, ACT, etc.)

<<the calculus=“” classes=“” and=“” physics=“” work=“” to=“” weed=“” them=“” out.=“”>></the>

LOL!!! My son is doing fine in Calculus (honors) - it’s Chemistry that’s kicking his butt!!!

when did he apply?

My son was also accepted to PSU UP for Fall 2011 Engineering this morning via email. We’ve been away so have not yet seen the past few days mail.

ACT: 27 composite, 31 math
SAT: 690 math, 660 english

PSU Main Campus is his first choice.

got mine yesterday!

Penn State DOES NOT begin notifying students of admission until November 1 2010. This is from the site and the office of admissions. For all of you that think acceptances happen in OCTOBER, you are being fooled!! Go to [Welcome to Penn State’s Home on the Web](http://www.psu.edu) and read for yourself!!!

Whhhhhhhaaaaaattttt?

Umm… I highly doubt that this many people would lie about being accepted…

Or that my acceptance letter is fake

CollegeMom1315: You shouldn’t post about things you do not know. It makes you look foolish.

call the college of admissions
ask them when they release acceptance notifications
They will tell you November 1 2010
then we will see who is foolish…

You call PSU admissions.
Many people have already received acceptance letters. Sorry you were not one of them. Perhaps in the next round. Be sure to come back and post what the rest of us already know.

Many people are those as in my son’s group that received acceptance letters after November 1st so the next round is not something he’s concerened about. Your assumption that he was not accepted because I’m questioning the autheticity of letters that came before November 1st is a pretty large assumption on your part

And what is it that the rest of you think you know?

I know that I have a letter or acceptance from admissions. Unless you are suggesting that it’s fake?
