Gotta echo Dennis173: "^wow The Director of Admission, posting on CC^"

That's just one more example of why Fordham's at the top of this mom's list. Fordham was the only school to which D applied that emailed "thank you" notes for attending each event. On our visit, the campus was amazingly friendly and inviting with GREAT food (contrary to what we'd read in the guides), and evident spirit. Inspirational speakers, accessible deans, dedicated parent support -- what more could one ask for?

Swansong, hats off to you for doing such a wonderful job upholding the Fordham tradition of hospitality here. Your posts really help make this place "feel" like a welcoming and supportive oasis. Thank you! :-)

mr. farrell-
thank you for posting and clarifying the admit rate. i was just passing along what i heard, but this goes to show you can't believe everything you hear. 7,000 is definitely a large amt. of apps.

Daughter's First Acceptance - Thanks Fordham, you made our day (and holidays). I think a lot of kids fall in love with their "first". Sort of like life.
Stats:
2100 SATs
SAT II 740 720 690
GPA 97
Rank: Top 8%

Visiting Fordham was an eye opener - were very impresses and we're looking forward to visiting again!

rain: I am sure he understands...he just wanted to clarify for the record. I am glad he is here too....he was here last year as well and "clarified" something that was misstated by someone that was ugly. Your support is appreciated.

Supermom: I do it because I want to, because I care, and because I truly believe its as much our responsibility as parents to get the word out as it is the marketing department. If we dont speak up, then the trash talkers take over and the wrong impression is what sticks. That is why you saw "wrong" information in places like Princeton Review about Fordham food and perhaps its culture. And finally, I really am excited about the amazing kids that Fordham admitted. Its a tough job to glean ability, maturity, character and "fit" from application pages in the thousands. But somehow they do a masterful job. The class of 2011 (last year) was fabulous as well and record applications around 22,000! Fordham is a family. Its part of their ethics and ethos. It helps our children to adjust and not just survive, but to thrive on campus. I believe in my heart that Fordham can compete very effectively for the top students in the country in any corner of the country! We just have to get the word out, particularly in regions outside of the northeast, that New York has THREE (or more) outstanding universities: Columbia, NYU and Fordham.....and Fordham is very, very special! Once you meet and hear Fr. McShane speak, you can't help but be infected with his positivism and excitement! And like I have told many people here and elsewhere, when we came to Admitted Student Orientation (for RD) in April last year, we spoke to many students at random on Edward's Parade, inside Queen's Court, Hughes and other dorms and asked them for the real story...and it was exactly as represented. And when we dropped off our D on move in day, it was flawless and effortless....we literally didnt lift a finger. Even the IT people were in the hallway waiting on us to ensure the computer and internet hookups went quickly!

Is Fordham PERFECT like Mary Poppins? No. It even has some humorous quirks that add to its character! But so does every school. But its just a great experience for these kids and I want more kids with great stats and great character to know about it.

Welcome DEEZMOM! Great stats! Your D will be very happy and THRIVE at Fordham! I know, because mine is!

Tiemann: The RamVan is free between campuses and runs to the WEE hours of the night and that is VERY helpful to kids in Manhattan who need a hitch back to Rose Hill late at night! It runs on a published schedule. It also provides transportation to JFK and La Guardia for a fee...I think its 20.00 which is cheaper than a train and taxi! My D uses it all the time to La Guardia! Fordham security has a "rescue service" also for people who need to be picked up....I dont know what the range is from campus.....likely not too far....but for someone who is out late and needs a safe ride back they will do that for you. I think there is a fee for that as well and they can bill it to you if necessary in an emergency.

S admitted today!!!
It is fun seeing all the excited postings coming in. I love the helpful inputs from the people in the know

man, most of you have high grades compared to mine, my SAT scores are not even near some of yours only 2 who got accepted are in my range...though i applied RD im now scared =/

hey don't be scared flamingspirits00... it was something I noticed about Fordham's selection process. I gave an interview, which usually doesn't happen, to a rep who came out to my school. She was very into asking about what things are important to me, etc., trying to determine my character... did not ask anything about my classes or grades. I think they do a good job of looking past the sheer facts. Seriously. Good luck! I just got accepted EA!

flamingspirits-my sat and gpa are probably a little lower than most of the people on here who were accepted. However I have much more to my application that just some numbers. Fordham really does look at the whole person...I was accepted EA! Make sure you have a good strong essay and show the admissions office why they should take you.

yeah its not my gpa or eC"s that im worried about, or my essay i think i did a really good job with them. But my SAT score is where im having my doubts.

I was admitted to Fordham University (specifically, Fordham College at Rose Hill) today, and I also was awarded the Dean's Scholarship by the Fordham University Scholarship Committee.
