Accepted a college's admission, but decided not to go.

What do I do about this? I was accepted admission to Humboldt State University and I already accepted the acceptance, but I won't be able to go. Do I just email them and tell them that I can't go? I also accepted financial aid. Do I do the same?

Yes, inform them. If you submitted a deposit, it will likely be forfeit.

I recommend that you call admissions as soon as possible and let them know. An email for such a major event seems overly informal, and it may get lost. As a matter of courtesy and to have a record, follow up the phone call with a formal letter, ideally sent with a return receipt requested.

Just email. Just because you accepted admission doesn’t mean anything except you are probably out of your deposit. I accepted admission to UCF and then changed my mind. No problem. They didn’t care. Just call / email.

Hello-I have the same question about University of California. My son accepted at UC-Santa Cruz then heard yesterday he was accepted at UC Santa Barbara! He has until June 1 to accept the admission to UCSB, but how do you decline after accepting?

Just like the earlier advice: contact them as soon as possible to withdraw so they can give the spot to someone else. Simple.
