I’m still enrolled at the school I SIR’d to before the May 1st deadline to be safe but I just sent my statement of legal residence and haven’t had it accepted yet. I don’t want to completely burn all bridges by canceling enrollment to the first school before having everything in check at Cal.
How long do I have to cancel my enrollment at the other school before there’s a problem?
The rule that you mustn’t break is to be concurrently an accepted student at two colleges. So don’t accept the offer at Cal until you’re sure you will go there. So you need to wait on formally accepting the offer until you’re satisfied that the residency issue is resolved. Once it’s resolved to your satisfaction accept the Cal offer and concurrently cancel your acceptance at the other school. You’ll will most likely lose your deposit.
