Well, since my original acceptance thread is becoming filled with so many non-acceptance replies, I have decided to make a thread about who is accepted and attending.

So if you meet these requirements:
1. Accepted
2. Attending in the fall

Then please post here.

If you have not been accepted, please don't post.
If you have been accepted but are unsure that you are going to attend, don't post.
If you have been accepted and are not going to attend, or are waiting on other acceptances before you make a final decision on McGill, don't post.

As for me, Accepted into Arts and attending (of course that is a given since hopefully people will only be posting here if they get accepted and are attending for sure)

Let me be clear, the reason that I am not attracted to McGill is that their students hold false pride in their school. Instead of boasting about the qualities of their school that enable it to be a more than respectable academic institution, while being a haven for smart, socialy adept people, they try to convince people that they are uber-intellectuals.

(And, by no means, am I an elite applicant, but I have molded myself into an applicant that has attracted the attention of many great schools, so I am not an elitist who would only accept going to a school of ivy-standards).

(And when I say "they", I mean the reasonable minority of student who have convinced themselves that they are going to the "Harvard of Canada". If McGill was full of these kids, then it would not be " a haven for smart, socialy adept people".

...im just going there because it's cheap as hell, though it IS a top school. which would you rather pay, $4000 or $40,000? you get out of mcgill and have the same ease of finding a job as from ivy, plus you don't end up killing yourself in college competing with insanely smart people. I'm quite glad that there will be lesser intellectuals there, actually.
Mcgill's called harvard of canada because it's the best college IN CANADA (at least a few years ago before financial issues). but seriously binghamtomrocks, that "attack"-ish thing came out of nowhere... lol these forums are funny.

Well, I am not a complete idiot... I did get accepted at McGill. But I do agree with you: McGill is better compared to UCLA than UCONN. Those public schools you mentioned are slightly better than McGill, though.

And in order to qualify for the exceptionally high standards you have set for commenting on your posts: Unless I change my mind, I have made a final decision to 100% attend McGill University. I was accepted into the Department of Arts and Sciences. Maybe I'll see you there twixie. Unfortunately I do not subscribe to facebook.

Light years ahead of UConn?! What are you smoking? Most people have never heard of McGill. Even if they had, it is more than likely that do not know its academic reputation. Perhaps McGill does have an edge academically, but I'd rather go to a school that is more well known, like a UConn. I'm sure McGill is a fine school, but please do not over exaggerate... you come off looking foolish.

i don't know UConn... please don't give me a screaming rant about how great/famous that school is. you americans don't know/care about schools in canada, so i sure as hell can stay ignorant of those in the states.

knowing a school depends on where you are located geographically. i can definitely say that in China/Canada etc, people have never heard of UConn but Mcgill's internationally known.

on second thought, most of the schools in the states i only know because they send me mass mail, thus killing thousands of trees that end up in my trash can.

I'm sorta hoping to go here next year (I know I know i'm not accepted but this is nice to point out) the average SAT is a 1370 which is even higher then Berkeley's...and the average ACT is a 30 where the 75th percentile of ACT's at UCLA is a 30. Also, Cornell's average ACT is a 30 as well. And while we're at it with the 30's, I've got one too.

First of all, yes, it is a big accomplishment. So what, you think that just because it's Canada it doesn't matter or something? I guess you think anyone who goes to college in Canada majors in hockey right? Second of all, UConn is far less of an accomplishment. It's a second tier school in America, and if I were an employer, I would take a McGill student over some jock from UConn with a 1200 on his SATs any day! I don't usually dis the schools that people go to, but since you just basically said every college in Canada sucked, I think my actions were in line.

Silly Canadians... Forget UConn... Use Fordham or even Penn State for that matter. I think the majority of people applying to college would rather go to a school the average person has at least heard of. In Canada, McGill may be looked at like a Harvard (LMAO), but honestly, who cares about Canada besides Canadians?! Wow, the best school in one of the most uneventful countries in the world! You rely on America for almost everything, and expect an American to admire a school from that country? Are you nuts?! The real truth, you pro-McGill people should have already realized, is that in America, or elsewhere for that matter, McGill is seen as a dime a dozen school.

oh and btw omniscient, im an international student, and i have lived in 5 different countries. i can tell you that probably 98% of my school has never heard of uconn or fordham... just try looking at the number of international applicants to mcgill and the number of international applicants to uconn.

let's face it omniscient, you applied to mcgill, got rejected, and now you're ****ed. it's ok, we understand =D

To say that Canada is one of the most uneventful countries in the world is ridiculous. You've obviously never been to Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver before, because in my mind, they are better than any city I've been to in America. Also, how can you say Canada is boring when you're going to a school in Storrs, Connecticut? I'll bet you'll get tons of chicks up there, bro. And, yes maybe you are right that the average American has heard of UConn, but thats because of their basketball team, not their sub-par academics. I'm not even going to bother arguing with you anymore, because I just find it sad that your views on Canada are so skewed. I think deep down you know you want to visit, otherwise, why would you have wandered onto the McGill forum?
