Accepted and deferred at same time.

On my UChicago account it says I'm deferred ea but I got an financial aid info in the mail giving my prelim financial aid decision... it says memorandum for students admitted under early action. Maybe there is some sort of mistake? Have any other deferred applicants got preliminary financial aid decision through the mail?

I would call the school

That is definitely worth a phone call. There’s a 90% likelihood that they’re very sorry, but some clerk in the Financial Aid office screwed up and had you on the wrong list, but at least a 10% chance of the other way around.

He got in.

mathnerd, please make sure to call our email our office at collegeadmissions@uchicago.edu or 773-702-8650, if you have not done so already, so that we can figure out what may be the case here.

I got in! UChicago <3

Wowowow Congratulations!
I can only imagine the emotional rollercoaster the past few weeks must have constituted for you!
I took a peak at your stats (on the Caltech EA page) and was stunned (as were several CC’ers) at your rejection! (which speaks volumes about how much you’ve accomplished over the years)

Are you accepting? (if not where else are you trying?)
Once again, congrats!!!

PS: sorry for the parentheses comments

Thanks all! I’m not accepting yet, I’m still waiting on Harvard and MIT.

Congratulation! I’m a deferred applicant and I’m glad to see you accepted. It would have been quite nervous until you found out the result. You should be very proud of your achievement and relieved. I so envy you lol. Chicago remains my top choice and I still crossed my fingers for Chicago RD acceptance.
