Accepted as a transfer for fall 2016, had a question concerning cost.

So was notified this morning that I’ve been accepted to Cornell for fall of 2016. I don’t know what my financial aid options will be yet, I’m assuming that will take another week or so.

Now, I’ve already looked (and re-looked today) how money is factored in terms of who owes what. From what I understand: since I make under 40k, my parents make under 40K, and we have zilch for assets between all of us, that basically the financial load I need vs the projected annual cost of ~67k will be very little (first time being poor paid off). For the past two years, my only source of income has been the post 911 GI bill, which isn’t used in the calculation of aid (from my understanding). I’m a 31 year old independent student.

So I basically wanted to see if anyone here could verify that my understanding of how money is factored is correct. And, if so, in theory could I not use my GI bill at all for the next two years and just use what Cornell provides for me?

Did you ever find out?
