So I am a first semester freshman, and I am not happy where I am. I know it's only been two weeks of school, but I know it's not the right fit. I am at a small LAC and want to be at a larger university.

Basically, I was accepted to Cornell University for Fall 2011, but for various reasons chose not to attend. Will this affect my chances of being accepted for the Spring 2012 term (I'm primarily concerned as to whether it would negatively affect my chances of getting in).

I don’t think so. I was accepted to NYU but can’t attend because I’m an undocumented student who can’t get federal financial aid. I’m then going to the City University of New York which I can afford paying from my one pocket. You gotta figure out what’s really important to you, make a decision and stick to it. In two years after I get an Associates I plan to transfer to NYU.

No, it won’t hurt your chances, adcoms know that students choose different colleges for various reasons and that sometimes things don’t work out. Be sure to write a good essay about why you want to transfer.

i actually sent them an email a few days ago asking a similar question, this is what they told me

you basically need to have 12 credits of college coursework completed at the time of your application. AP credits and college credits taken during high school don’t count towards this requirement. courses taken concurrently don’t count

so it’s pretty much impossible to be eligible to transfer as a freshman for the spring semester unless you took 12 credits during the summer after graduating highschool. you will have a good chance of being admitted for fall '12 though, considering you were admitted as a freshman.
good luck though, im trying to transfer as well :D
