Hey everyone, congrats on your acceptances!
I'm really excited about HC, but I didn't get into the premed program as intended. Does anyone (at HC) know how difficult it is to get into the program after freshmen year? How much does not being in the program affect my schedule for premed reqs/etc? Thanks!

Does it tell you in your letter that "we regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission to the pre-med program" or something like that, or did it just not mention it at all? I applied for pre-med and I should hear today!

It reads: "Unfortunately, because of the keen competition among the many applicants seeking entrance to the pre-med/pre-dental program, the Committee was unable to accommodate you request for that program. It is possible that a limited number of students may be able to enter the program after the first year."

yeah i would totally love to know how one who has not been accepted into this program can reapply freshman year / what is the likliness of such success?

i'm pretty sure i applied to the program but did not even get any mention of it in my acceptance letter (Early decision)

Hey guys! I'm not actually in the pre-med program, but I have some friends who are and some who want to be. Freshman year is kind of the "weeding out" year. It's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to get in your sophomore year, but it is most certainly do-able. It depends upon how many drop and how excellent of a candidate you are. For instance, if you take the typical freshman year pre-med courses (Calculus, Chemistry, Biology) and you excel in them, then it's easier for your professors to notice you. Does that make sense?

D is currently a freshman in the pre-med program at HC. From what she has said, those who are NOT in the program usually take physics and calculus the first year, instead of chemistry and calculus. Several of her friends did that this year. People do drop out of the pre-med program, but I have no idea what the acceptance rate is for sophmores.
