Hey guys,

So I applied to a 5 week boarding summer program. I'd like to keep the school private, if you don't mind. I was accepted, but not on financial aid. The program is very expensive, and if my family was to pay for it, it would put a large amount of financial strain on us. In the meanwhile, I've been placed on the financial aid waiting list. If a space doesn't open up, I can't go. I didn't apply anywhere else because the only one I applied to was the only one that had the courses I wanted.

In the meanwhile, what should I do? Write a letter to admission?

Thanks in advance :)

I wouldn’t do that for a summer program. Save the money for actual college.

That said, it can’t hurt to email admissions. But if you are already on a waitlist, it may be a matter of them simply going down the list. Last year my D applied to a summer program and a scholarship. She got into the program but didn’t get the scholarship. A week or two later, we got a letter saying someone who had the scholarship declined it and so she got it. She went, had a great time, and it was close to free.

If she hadn’t wound up getting the scholarship she wouldn’t have gone.
