Accepted but not school of choice

Rodney — I applied to CAS for Mathematics but was denied and granted admission into LC Smith. Would this be an easy transition since Engineering and/or Computer Science are both math intensive programs?

We were at SU Thurs through today for admitted student orientation. Transfers came up at a few Q&A sessions. Answer was aways the same - it depends on GPA. For very competitive programs such as Newhouse the bar is high, but for CAS math it would be lower.

I went through LC Smith in the 80’s. Calc I-IV was the math program through freshman/sophomore year. Can’t say it’s the same today.

dbrenner: what exactly did you do to transfer to CAS from human ecology? Who did you write to and what did you say? Did you specify a major?

Anyone else do this? I’m wondering if it’s better to wait till after May 1

^^there are some people that I know personally who actually waited until after they “deposited”…yes, that is an option to wait until after May 1

Rodney - do you think it’s better to specify a major? Or undecided?

ABSOLUTELY specify a major…it will be much easier for them to assess interest and availability…for example, if you were child studies in Human ec (or undecided) you could specify psychology in CAS…

by the way, not sure if we have “talked” about this before, but pre-requisites for both of these are basically the same for the first year…

so even if they don’t honor the request, you can prob transfer in after freshman year…

forgive me if we have already discussed this elsewhere.
