Accepted .. but there is a problem

First semester of my senior year I recieved a D in my AP English Lit class. Also, due to a scheduling conflict, I had to drop the class, therefore, no AP test. My counseler has said to me that a D is still one point on your GPA even though it is an AP class. However, when I recieved a copy of my transcript, it was counted as if I recieved a C. I plan on writing Cal Poly and explaining to them that my reasoning was missing a lot of school due to a medical issue.

My question is, do you think Cal Poly will rescind my application for this failing grade? How about if I take a regular english class first semester of summer school and recieve an A? Or a community college course in Literature?

You can take an AP Exam even if you are not taking the associated AP class. My son took 4 AP exams (US Gov, Engl Lang, Engl Lit, and MacroEcon) in high school even though he didn’t take any of the associated AP classes. He passed all but Econ, and got High School and College credit for each of the other 3 AP exams. Since Cal Poly accepts passing AP scores as meeting the requirements for an A-G course, I would sign up for the AP English Lit exam and buy a study book and try to pass with a 3 or better. Then you will probably get to keep your acceptance.

Great! Thank you so much! :)
