Hey, I got accepted into the Bachelor of Arts in English program with a $21,000 scholarship and with one co-op. I originally only wanted to go to college for four years; however, after speaking with an alum, I now want to change to having three co-ops, despite the five years. Do I have do contact the Office of Admissions to do so? And would changing my co-op have a negative effect on the scholarship I received? I don't want to risk losing what I already have, so any help regarding this is highly appreciated.

I have the same question. 5 years is also cheaper per year.

That’s the same programme I got into! I don’t think that changing your co-op option would interfere with your scholarship. You should definitely call the Office of Admissions to ask because they’ve already dealt with situations like this!

Best of luck!

That’s comforting, but is there anyone who can testify that changing one’s co-op option is doable? In hindsight, I definitely would really like to change it, and knowing that tuition is now $41.5K, I want to change it even more so, now.

I changed my co-op option multiple times. The scholarship remains the same (it’s not pro-rated based on tuition).

That you so much sarahjudith; that’s very, very comforting to hear. I saw that the tuition’s price hiked, and that indeed worried me. When would be the best time to call Drexel to notify it of a wanted change? Also, even with the 3 co-op option, I would still need about $25K factoring in room and board and the meal plan Freshman year. Is Drexel at least okay with FAFSA-based aid?

If you’re sure that you want to change, contact them now. It’s very easy to do before you start school. It gets harder (more signatures required) once begin classes.

I don’t know much about FAFSA; my family didn’t qualify for external aid.

Okay, thank you so much for the information. And ouch, I’m very sorry to hear that. Did you at least apply? I looked some places around the internet, and it seems that my family is going to be cutting it very close if we’re eligible. I know that my Sophomore and all subsequent years will be easier to pay, however, since my EFC will be reduced due to a sibling’s starting to attend college.
