Accepted - but what to do?

Ok,guys. I need your suggestions/advices

I applied to a school in my area ( a very avg school) for their Master of Science Program(M.S.) as a non-degree student and I just received a mail that says I'm admitted. That's good news, I know. But,the bad news is classes have started(1 class is over) . The School still gives me a chance to register though, with a late-fee ofcourse.

Now, I'm confused - Should I go ahead and complete the registration for the classes that I wish ? Or should I just ask them to defer my admission?

Incidently, I'm also taking the GRE to apply to some better Schools. My test is next month. Should I just concentrate on this test and then decide what to do? I'm soooo confused....

I don't know what to do, Any insight into my confusin will be helpful..please help me...

I think you should wait. Your current plan sounds like a waste of money.

Take the GRE. It sounds as though you need more time to research grad programs and develop a more focused idea on exactly what it is that you intend to accomplish by going to grad school.

nysmile - thanks a ton for your reply. You put my mind to rest!!! I was so stressed with all this. did not know whom to consult.

yes, I have one particualr grad program in my area that I LOVE to attend…they need a high GRE/GMAT score like 1350+on GRE and 600+ on GMAT…so, i applied to another school, just in case i dont get thru my school of interest… now, since i got accpeted i was lured into joining…guess, ill wait//lets see how my GRE turns out…problem is i am out of work for 1 year now…lost my job in the economic downturn in late 2009…so, i got desperate to do something…and instead of searching a job i decided to go for higher education…

You should wait

appliedphysics,
yes, I think so too ,now. I’m glad that I posted here and you guys gave me your persepctive. I as in too much of a hurry and a unclear mind. Apparently, classes have started and one class is over. It ill be hard to merge into the class even if I join now.

Now,the problem is “what should I tell the professors/department” . they were in touch with me :frowning: …and if I decide to apply to this school for next term, they should not hold any grudge/prejudice. shall i tell them that I feel I ill not b able to integrate ell since classes have started??

please advice,anyone.
Thank You

Keep it short and don’t get too personal.

“Thank you for the offer to be a part of your graduate program. After much deliberation, I’ve decided to take some time off before beginning a graduate program.”

–add one or two short sentences, but keep it as general and personable as possible.

thank you nysmile…will shoot an email today!
