I know this sounds stupid/paranoid, but I'm so excited that I got into Northwestern, and at the same time I'm afraid to tell anyone because I'm afraid it was a computer glitch or some kind of mistake. Anyone else feel the same way? Any thoughts?

I was accepted ED and I’m STILL having that problem. But come on, what are the chances that they would actually make that mistake? You got in, congratulations!

You’re definitely not alone, but don’t worry about it. Go ahead and tell people!

I usually end up double- and triple-checking that I read the letters correctly ;)

Congratulations on getting in!

Thank you to both of you! I’m glad to know that other people feel the same way. And RMiller, it made me feel so much better that you feel the same way after being admitted ED. And maybe I’ll see you on campus this fall! Congrats!

I still feel the same way! I’ve clicked that link on the email at least five times just to make sure the letter doesn’t change. But I think (or I’m praying, anyway) that this is the real deal!

Flaunt it. Be proud.

congrats to all! did NU include your financial aid packet with your acceptance? or do they send that later?

@elpadmit - No financial aid info, just a decision letter. I believe it all comes together in one snail mail package next week.

You should get a large envelope in about a week that will contain your official admittance letter and information including visit days and your financial aid package information.

I keep checking it, too. I couldn’t believe that it actually said “Congratulations and welcome to the Class of 2015 at Northwestern University.”

Can you guys post some wuick stats?

Hi, Kathy. My son also attends a high school in Chicago and got accepted today.

Stats: 36.0 ACT, 240 PSAT (SAT not taken), dual 800 SAT IIs, 1/400 class rank. Captain of Scholastic Bowl, Senior Peer and Tutor for Math Team (there’s no team captain), with 6 competition ribbons in 6 outings. Peer Tutor for all AP math and science classes. Other stuff including 5’s on 6 APs.

LOL wow. Time for me to give up. Finish Bio hw? Nahhhh sleep. Haha.

I wouldn’t give up. You never know!

My stats aren’t as high as those. I have a 4.0 and a 34 ACT. I was pretty involved in high school (sports, music, community service). My high school is a small, rural high school, so it wasn’t too academically challenging at all.

My school is very challenging and several people go to NU, around 15 but I don’t know if I have a chance anymore. Stupid freshman year…

Don’t worry. I just got in and I’m one of those kids who had a bad freshman year, as well. I think a STRONG upward trend can do a lot, though. But to overcome it, I think you will a stronger essay, ECs, etc. So keep working!

I have ECs… not necessarily strong ones. My “strong” ones are volunteering twice a week in a hospital which is why I’m going into Medicine.
Some NU classes in the summer possibly, visiting a couple of times, etc./:
Possibly going to volunteer in another country.
