Accepted but...

I am worried that my second semester grades will get my admission rescinded. I am currently taking 4 AP’s, a post-AP math elective, and an honors physics elective. I have 4 B’s, 1 A, and a C in AP English Lit. Apparently Duke reevaluates your application if you get a C or lower during the second semester of your senior year. Will this hurt me if I was a borderline admit? It is very likely that I will end up with a C in AP English Lit and–in the worst case scenario–one other class.

A single C won’t sink you. However you will probably get some type of sternly worded warning. If you have some legitimate reason for this drop in grades, it would be advisable to let the admissions people know, otherwise they will assume its because of senioritis.

ANeeson98,
You should be fine. By any chance have you already formally enrolled and accepted a stop in class of 2020?
If so did you notice that one of the conditions of admission seemed really strict about final transcript grades? I have been look all over the place for the exact condition of admission but I remember it saying something about grades should be “equal or superior” to previous grades. On the other hand, it seems that people say Duke won’t rescind over one C.

Would a change from a C+ to a C- count as not equal or superior to previous grades? I know some schools count the +/-, but others don’t. I have all As in all other classes.
Our math teacher just has a rule where she counts grades “normally” in the 1st semester, but only enters three grades in second semester. Those three grades were from IB mock exams. No curve, not even the standard IB curve.
