Accepted by Berkeley as a Philosophy major, changing to Computer Science?

Like most Computer Science transfer students, I only completed Linear Algebra and Differential Equations for lower division reqs, would I be able to change my major to CS at Cal?

perhaps the B.A. CS program under Letters and Science

I wrote a version of this to another new admit:

Talk to the advisor for CS. Technically, you are not admitted to any major right now. You were admitted to L&S but under the guise that you were to complete a Philosophy major. They try to keep students from doing a Bait & Switch when they get admitted, but unless the major is severely impacted, you should be able to get in. You will have to take missing pre-reqs before they will admit you though, and this may end up extending your time at Cal.

EECS and other majors within the Engineering school are highly impacted and take a long time to complete. Look into any CS programs in L&S since you are admitted to that college. Perhaps a minor will work.

Good Luck!

Thank you!

realistically speaking it’s not very likely.
