I recently got accepted by the UW Tacoma, but not the UW seattle. I applied a month earlier for UW seattle (11/31) whereas I applied (12/31) for UW Tacoma. I am feeling worried that UW seattle won't accept me, it's my first choice school. UW tacoma is offering me some scholarship money and my house is only 10 mins from UW tacoma, but UW seattle has a better enviroment.

SAT 1st Try: Math: 640 Reading: 530 Writing: 580 (9 essay)
SAT 2nd Try: Math: 730 Reading: 640 Writing: 580 (8 essay)
Total Sat: 1950
Math/Reading: 1370

GPA: 3.54
Rank: 50 / 200

Essay: 7.5/10, with 10 being perfect and 5 being adequate?

I am most worried about my class rank. It is not representative of me because I came from a rigorous school to my current school which inflates grades, thus my rank is not representative of my current class rank. I would like to believe I am in the top 20% of my class

seattle takes more time than tacoma.
i also applied on the same day and still haven’t heard back from them yet.

Tacoma is very easy to get into, Seattle doesn’t start responding to most people [except overqualified] until March. Your stats are fine though and will get in, don’t expect scholarships though, Tacoma and Bothell are equivalent to Central Washington.

hello…i just got admitted into university of washington, tacoma for masters in computer science and systems.but i had applied to uni. of washington, seattle.I wanted to ask that as far as quality of studies is concerned, then is there a big difference between the tacoma and the seattle campus. Also, from job prospectus will i get a decent job if I graduate from tacoma.

It will just say “University of Washington” on your degrees…

And this thread was from 2 years ago haha.

These kids don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s the all the same school. Faculty are exchanged between campuses, students can take classes in Seattle, or at another campus, and we all have the same President. The only difference is how your tuition is routed. If you go to one, you can transfer to the other easily.

The diploma says “The University of Washington” on it. Looks exactly the same whether you go to the Seattle, Bothell, or Tacoma campus.

What idiot can’t understand the concept of a branch campus? And how the hell is it equivalent to central WA? UW is ranked 43rd by USNWR nationally.

Hey…I want some advice… I am planning to apply to UW bothell and UW tacoma for a masters in computer science program… I just want to know which is a better campus in terms of studies and job prospects.please guide…also if i get into one campus can i easily switch to another campus ??

At this stage I am a bit confused regarding which campus to pick if i get admit from them…plz guide. thanks a lot in advance.

You should have created a new thread, rather then tagging onto a super old one.

Anyways, “also if i get into one campus can i easily switch to another campus ??”

NO NO NO NO NO, and for the last time NO

If you get into one campus, just assume that is where you’ll graduate. The odds of you applying and getting accepted to another (there is no straight “switching”) campus while currently attending a different campus is very very very slim (don’t hold your breath)

OK thanks for the advice…do u have any idea which of the two campus Bothell or Tacoma is better for pursuing MS in Comp Sc.?
