Essay: Very GOOD! It actually made my friend tear up a little and one of the colleges I have been accepted into actually discussed how great it was. It was definitely the strongest and best part of my application. I can't stress how important the essay is, especially those with lower SAT scores. The Essay is where you can prove what type of individual and student you are, regardless of numbers.

Recommendations:
One from my Cross-Country Coach/History Teacher who wrote me an excellent recommendation.
One from my French I-III Teacher who now lectures at UPenn. She wrote me a decent recommendation about how I would be a great fit for the United Nations.
One from my Editor-in-Chief. Haven't seen it but I suppose it is very good.
Guidance Counselor commented in her recommendation how I have taken the most rigorous schedule out of all the students in my class since the ninth grade.

I have no AP scores, no IB diploma, but I think it was ultimately my essay that saved me and I am so ecstatic that I have been accepted into the Binghamton Class of 2018. Just waiting to hear from some of the top 20 universities I applied to before I make any decisions. Really considering Binghamton and its beautiful campus!

is the essay really that helpful toward the admission process? I really want to know more about their way of admitting students. I recently also read on the news that they’re accepting more students because they want to expand their campus. :open_mouth: Congratulations though! :)

Am in!! I could not believe, I had already given up on Bing cuz of my low SATs. I was already accepted into UB last month and was planning on going there. Change of plans…

I am an international student, my SATs were 1660/1120. (1 seat)
I did O-levels and A-levels in high school, but I did not send them my A-levels transcript because I got like 2 days ago. I did send them my predicted grades which were alright. For those of you who do not know, a-levels are equivalent to APs.
My O-levels grades account for approximately 3.9 GPA.
Essay was really good and recs were great.
Lots of ECs and volunteer work.

Btw, my A-level and AS-level accounted for 26 college credits at Buffalo. I am expecting the am same at Bing.

Congratulaions!

How did you hear?

Via e-mail ;)

Is anyone going to admitted students day this Sunday Feb 16th?

Yeah I was wondering that too since I got in today ^^^^ people you should check your spam folder because that’s where mine was

When did you guys apply? I applied November 21st regular decision- should I be receiving an email soon?

december 19th for me… I’m surprised I found out so early… They could notify you at any point before april 1st I think

I applied in January and had all my certificates mailed by mid-January which they probably received like 2 weeks later. Decision was pretty quick I guess.

Which school did you apply to?

I applied mid-December for RD and I just heard back today. I got accepted to the Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, but rejected from the School of Management, which is what I applied for. I’m not really surprised since my stats are pretty low (SAT 1730, GPA 3.4), but still a little disappointed. I will most likely not attend Binghamton because I wanted to major in something business related and I really don’t have any interest in any of the majors offered in Harpur. I heard back from my first choice school today though, so I am 99% sure I will be going there (Stevens Institute of Technology). I’ll let Binghamton know that I am not accepting their offer by next week so that someone who is waitlisted and really loves Binghamton can have the chance to go! Good luck to all of you!

I applied to Harpur college.

vball104- congratz and thanks for thinking about others!
