Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this because it’s driving me crazy.
On my PittConnect page there’s an option to register for the Admitted Student day (Invitation only), but I have yet to receive my acceptance letter.
Is this a spoiler for what may come in the mail, or have I just overlooked this option thats been there the whole time??

Hi PharmDMom, Yes we had visited and really loved Pitt. We are going back for the admitted student day in February to take a second look. He also applied to UF (Gainesville), Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Ohio State and Maryland. All have PharmD programs, but not the conditional acceptance.

Hi Annettes, that was such a push for us - the conditional. Also with Maryland, if you do apply and get into their Pharmacy school, it’s in Baltimore and she was thinking she wouldn’t want to leave CP; I thought the same of UF as well - I don’t believe the actual pharmacy school is in Gainesville. Michigan you have to complete like 84 credits in pre-pharm, and Ohio State definitely requires a Bachelors degree before applying to their pharmacy program, so all in all in our case, she’d like to be out in 6 years. As to why the rush into a career - lol, who knows! We keep telling her to enjoy her youth - goes by too quickly, but hopefully she’ll be happy. Since we were out there twice, we’re gonna pass on admitted students day. Good luck to you and your son.

Hi PharmDMom, I agree, the conditional acceptance is very appealing. We were in Gainesville and while they do have other locations the main school of pharmacy is on the Gainesville campus. It is an amazing program (could be done in 6 years, but most likely 7). The big negative was for out-of-state the pharmD program is extremely expensive. We met with the Dean of admissions and he was great. The students seemed very happy. We are hoping our son loves Pitt as much as the first time when we go back. Fingers crossed!!! Good luck to you too.

kayemel - I checked my Pittconnect account and have that same option as you (to register for accepted student days). I do not remember having it before but I have not heard back about my admission decision yet. Either they added that option to every student’s Pittconnect account, or it is updated for acceptance and the official decision will arrive via snail mail in the next few days. I am hoping for that scenario! Good luck!

ogirl99 - I got my acceptance letter today. It seems like i found a spoiler! So excited to be an incoming freshman this fall!

thanks for not keeping me waiting, ogirl. great stats. where else did you apply?

check out post #17:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1599989-how-do-you-decide-between-money-education-2.html?highlight=pitt+honors

I’ve been accepted at ASU, Case Western, and Drexel, all with scholarships, and I also applied to BU and JHU(as a reach). I tried to apply to a range of schools so I can hopefully get some good merit scholarships since I’m not going to get much financial aid. Pitt will definitely be an option for me if I get a good scholarship, otherwise it will be more expensive than some of the other schools I applied to.

congratulations, those are some really good schools.

sorry, ogirl, if my intent wasn’t clear. I wanted you (and anyone else) to read the post at #17 because it talks about a student’s response to all the opportunities that she found at pitt. it sounds like a world of possibilities.

jkeil - I completely agree! I revised my original list of schools because I think that fit is more important than prestige and college is ridiculously expensive without any aid (as would happen at ‘prestigious’ schools). I haven’t visited any colleges yet but I can see myself being happy at most of the ones I’ve been accepted to. I feel like making a decision is going to be hard since I have so many good options (but I guess that’s a good problem to have:))!

you’re wise beyond your years, ogirl. what state are you from? it’ll be interesting to see how the money works out for you. those are terrific schools. but for money, Drexel, BU, and JHU are kind of curious. would you be willing to address how they fit in?

I am a NMSF, and Drexel gives full tuition to NMF and I like the cooping, BU I applied for the Trustees Scholarship (full tuition) although it is very unlikely I will get it - most likely will not end up being one of my final choices because of cost. I applied to JHU as a reach because they have a very good BME program (what I want to study) although I know I will probably not end up going there. I am from Washington state so I’m hoping that may also help as far as a scholarship at Pitt goes because I’m guessing they don’t gave a lot of students from here compared with those on the east coast.

I really like your chances, ogirl, at Pitt. I’m sure you did well with the merit at Case, another very good school. I’d forgotten that long ago I ruled out BU when I learned they had only 20 full tuition scholarships. D didn’t like Drexel’s campus or their focus on engineering and wasn’t a finalist anyway.

It sounds like a bunch of us on this thread have students or are students who’ve applied to Pitt and UMD with expectations of merit. Who else applied to Case?

@Vctory i got accepted too but anyone can be in the Honors program. It isn’t the same type of honors program as other colleges. It’s not really “a thing”

Jkeil911- my S also applied to Case. Was accepted with decent merit. He did not apply to UMD, however.
