We never received a message saying the application was “complete.” Daughter submitted it on July 5th- because we had reservations to visit the following week and they sent a message saying they would waive the application fee if she applied before or during the visit. Then they sent a message on July 26th stating they received the application and we could track the status by visiting… etc. Then her acceptance letter was dated August 9th - nearly 1 month to the date that she submitted the application. So you might just give it some more time.

To be honest, I was surprised that she heard back even then because I didn’t think our school sent out the transcripts until Sept. (after school started back up) but it appears they sent them in July (obviously). Now we are just hoping for scholarship money. :)

Coleman4 - thanks for your reply. It’s reassuring. My daughter is also applying to other schools, but the Pharmacy program at Pitt is really what she wants, entering of course thru the Pre-Pharmacy program. We too are a little nervous about costs, and are hoping for some merit money as well. She also has excellent credentials, but like you said, so do so many kids applying. It seems we’ve all created a very smart generation of kids - I never saw such high SAT/ACT scores and gpa’s from so many kids. Good luck - post back if/when you hear about merit. I’ll do the same, hoping to hear for acceptance first and then merit (keeping fingers crossed).

We are thrilled! Rec’d. letter of acceptance today - Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences - conditional acceptance pre-pharmacy. Also eligible for UHC. Now the wait to see if any merit arrives.

Hey everybody! Just got my acceptance letter today :)

I applied August 20th, so it took around 3 weeks.

I did submit a supplemental essay, and my recommendation just got sent in so it should help for scholarship consideration.

My GPA is a 3.667 on a 4.0 weighted scale. My SAT super score is a 2290. I had a 730 on the SAT Chemistry, and a 800 on the SAT Math IIC.

I took 4 AP exams so far in high school- Calculus AB, Statistics, Psychology, and Chemistry. All 5s.

I do quite a bit of things outside of school, and most of them have been continued for 3+ years. I don’t have too much leadership, but I am in charge of a few clubs.

I applied as a Neuroscience major, and I was accepted into the Dietrich school of Arts and Sciences!

Oh man this makes me nervous. I applied late August and got an email the other day saying something along the lines of “We noticed you’re going to take your SATs again in October and we will wait until then to consider your application.” I’m applying to nursing which is competitive and admissions close rather quickly so it makes me nervous. Has anyone else gotten this message? Pitt is my favorite school, it’s killing me! haha

Also, congrats to everyone who’s been accepted so far! :)

Interesting, what was your SAT/ACT scores you sent in? Depending on your math & reading you might be close to honors college meritt money, and if you better your score they might be able to offer more money. Look at positive, you weren’t rejected outright, chin up and be sure to apply to other schools as well.

They weren’t good. 680 CR 480 M 670 W, 1830 total. 3.7 GPA. I’m in their middle 50 percent in SAT scores, but not when you only take CR+M. Math killed me, I had timing issues. I know I’ll do better this time it’s just definitely really nerve wracking. Wonder if anyone else has gotten this response.

@l8rg8r - have you considered taking the ACT’s? I think there’s a test date coming up this week. You can probably just do a late registration. Just a thought since you could then get those scores sent out quicker and perhaps you’ll do better. My daughter did much better on her ACT’s than SAT’s.

Congrats Butsal!!! Put in an essay and recs anyway. that’s my advice to all as is can help and certainly can not hurt for scholarships.

Happy to report my kid can now join this fine group Since I think some asked about stats, they are sat 2130, GPA 96 UW, and top ten percent of class. Accepted into Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Yeah!!!

I8rg, i’d say they want to see improved scores. As others noted, Pitt did not say no. Hope your scores go up and I can’t remember if Pitt superscores. Since the nursing school is so competitive, I would guess and it is only a guess they have you in the maybe stack and they don;'t expect to close up admissions until a time taht is after you know your SAT results. Study hard for those tests! And like you, I tend to worry so turn that nervous worry energy into turbo SAT study mode. And RELAX the day before the test. Hope to see you a post from u by Noevmber that you’re in :)

D was accepted today into the Nursing School. Brother is pre-med and a senior there. Hoping for a full Pitt family but we’'ll see what decided to do. ;-)

Not sure. We used a paper application kid recieved when we visited Pitt over the summer. We did get letters and e-mails kid would have a quick response from Pitt, and that correspondence from Pitt started around the time Pitt would have gotten kid’s SAT scores from College Board. App he used seemed to be a normal app as best as I can tell. Did not say anything about prestige app on it.

Daughter used the online application. They did not have anything from us (test scores) until after she applied. We made an appt to visit there and they said they would waive the app fee if she applied prior to or during the visit… so she applied via the online app directly after that (including sending test scores and transcripts)- before our visit. She completed all the supplemental stuff- essay, references, even sample art work (despite applying to Engineering school) because it never hurts and usually helps.

Pitt is her first choice - my grandmother graduated from Pitt in 1928!! That’s saying something back then for women! BUT she needs to get a scholarship to afford the OoS tuition. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Through the application website it says I’ve been accepted for the class of 2014 with an intended Marketing major. But it also says I’ve been accepted to school of nursing?

My daughter’s application status online still says “Submitted” then, “Congratulations, Heather! Your application has been successfully submitted.” but she has already received her acceptance letter over a month ago to the Swanson School of Engineering for Biomedical Engineering… and even got a congratulatory call so any idea why that still says ‘Submitted’?
