Accepted with a 97/100, 7 aps and 34 act…average extracurriculars

When will we know if we are admitted to the UHC? Is there a separate letter that talks about UHC at all?

Hey, does anybody know whether we’re required to submit the Official Document Request sheet? My school has sent my transcript already, according to UPitt…

i dont think we have to send that form. my school sent my transcript without the form

does anyone know how long it takes them to receive sat score? i sent my score on the 25th,other schools had received them but u pitt has not

A week, I think…

quiddithchat – I did not submit the Official Request sheet thing and had no problems getting a decision. Fwiw I did have the Prestige application thing as well.

Befrank2014 – Can only speak from my experience but my letter of acceptance mentioned that I was honors college eligible as a freshman and would be receiving the formal invitation later in the mail

For anyone’s reference I was accepted into Dietrich for Economics and accepted into the UHC. 3.82 GPA, 14 honors, 3 AP classes and a 34 ACT as well as went to the same high school as the Director of Admissions…can’t hurt having that angle.

My burning question is: Does anyone know when scholarship decisions may start to be made, or have any info relating to merit aid? As in, what #'s do you need for what amount, criteria that decides merit aid, and when the decision will come…

Thanks

I was accepted to UPitt’s conditional Pre-Pharmacy program last week.

Since Rutgers Pharm is all the rage here, can someone fill me in on the details of Pittsburgh’s conditional acceptance? As long as I keep my GPA up, remain active in the community, do the PCAT and PharmCAS, and not flunk the interview I should be fine right?

Thanks! :)

andrew can’t answer most of your questions other than kids could start hearing something in Nov or Dec I suggest looking at prior year threads to see discussions that hit on rest of your questions. U sound in the range for something but I don’t know how much

@Neopolis–My son had the same conditional acceptance and is now a Junior/P1. Yes, as long as you have the grades they outline in the link below, get a decent score on the PCAT, and interview well, you should be in! Our next door neighbor is in Pharmacy at Rutgers and likes their program as well. Pitt Rx is ranked a bit higher. The campuses are very different so make sure you visit before you make your decision. I would also recommend that you sit down with a rep from the Pitt School of Pharmacy.

Alright, thanks!

Does your son know anything about the job outlook? I really, really enjoy Pharmacy (I’ve been volunteering at a Walgreens and Hospital since I was 14 - the Hospital one later turned into an internship I’m at currently) but one of the most disheartening things is hearing about severe over saturation in the field.

As much as I enjoy it, I don’t want to enter a field with bleak prospects.

I know a few graduates of Pharmacy schools in recent years and none of them had any issues getting jobs in Upstate NY (Rochester and Albany). I know one graduate of ACP (Albany College of Pharmacy) and he’s making $120k just one year out of school. Six years from now, things may be different, but I think any health profession has steady employment especially if you are mobile. It’s still rated #3 on US News 2013 list.

You’re an absolute lifesaver :)

Pitt at this point depends on how much $$$ I get; Rutgers would be about 18K cheaper and I’m still waiting for the other schools I applied to.

how long did it take for you guys to know your decisions after all materials are in ? The check status page only shows the requirement checklist and campus visit option but nothing relates to the real application status…

I’m also waiting for a Pitt decision on my D’s application, too. Since Pitt received SAT scores as of 10/24 (applied in 10/2, though), I expect they already decided and are preparing a letter to my D’s case.

App submitted on 10/10.
Transcript submitted on 10/12.
ACT scores received on 10/16.
Acceptance letter dated for 10/18, but I got it on 10/25.

I also used the Pitt Prestige app, that might have something to do with it.

Is not having a space to list my activities/awards/essay going to hurt me?

My D didn’t use prestige app. If the prestige app doesn’t have a space for activities/awards/essay, it could mean that Pitt uses GPA (and/or rank) and SAT (or ACT) for admission and further invitation decision on honor programs.

For folks asking about stats for accepted D with pitt prestige app for nursing school last month: 1980 SAT, 3.7 GPA, school doesn’t rank but a nationally recognized HS
. Am a bit confused about next steps on possible merit and financial aid (nothing mentioned in acceptance letter) - Do I call the Financial aid office to discuss? Many thanks.

I was accepted in August and have not heard one thing from Pitt since then regarding aid and scholarships. I have heard that in the past, the letters come anytime from Nov. on regarding merit.
My ACT went up since being accepted, so I sent then in, in hopes of getting merit aid. Not sure if this is correct but our counselor said to shoot for at least over 200O SAT and over 30 ACT for chance at any merit…and often out of state students have better chance.
Any truth to this?

Does Pitt send invites to the Guaranteed Admissions Program at the same time as admissions decisions?
