Accepted Class of 2018

so you guys get the acceptance letters by snail mail before they changed the status from “submitted” to “accepted” online?

@klkl3045 I sent my app in through the PittPrestige method, and if I sign in now, it still is asking me to send in my transcript and pay the application fee…even though I got accepted at the end of September

ohhh gotcha! I didnt bother to use pitt prestige application…I used the regular one instead. All my materials are in on 10/31 and I am super nervous right now!!

tspro2014 , My S got the guaranteed admission program for Medical program invite along with full tuition scholarship in November. so not sure if that is the same for this year.

tspro2014 – I got accepted letter dated 10/21 and a guaranteed admission letter dated 10/28 for GSPIA

Does UPitt look at your application even though they haven’t received your test scores? (SAT)

Probably not. Pitt kept asking SAT score.

If your school sends the transcripts and recommendations online do you have to fill out and submit the transcript request form and the recommendation form online? I already submitted my app without filling out these forms online.

i dont think so tempe. don;'t think my kid ever turned that in and Pitt has his transcript and that form was not an issue.

In fact, I think GC sent transcript and teacher send LOR separately without any forms and Pitt has told me they have everything

Congratulations on your admission to Pitts Honors!!
My D didn’t even get any admission letter yet, making us check the mailbox everyday.

hang in there dad2013 and everyone else!!! Hoping to see even more admit letters soon :)

Has anyone received a substantial scholarship offer yet? Those at my school who applied in the summer were accepted in August. Then another wave got accepted in late October. Now everyone is waiting on MONEY.
In the meantime, all the National Merit kids are rushing off apps to U of Alabama and a few other universities that guarantee big money for that designation. While Pitt does not, rumor has it that the designation of semi finalist MAY help with scholarships at Pitt… and that out of state helps too. Any truth to that rumor from those who went through this last year or earlier???

HSG

No word on scholarships at our house or that ive seen on CC. And i’ve been looking. From what Pitt told me, NM status not considered for scholarships in any way. I too suspected it could unofficially help and have not ruled that option out. But I’d suggest when offers come in, we can compare notes on how many NMSF got scholarships. I’ve heard OSS rumor too. My guess is there is some truth to that but they are probably also looking at kids and going wow, they’d be a great asset here and those kids will get offers regardless of whether they are in or out of state. Based on posts for past classes, which seem to be gone now, very high stats, and I’m talking at least 2200 SAT helps a lot too.

hey i forgot pitt seems to use 1600 SAT scale. So then i’d say 1450 and up, top 5 percent of class, and good to great EC’s will be most likely to get scholarships. that may actually be from their website.

Pitt does (or did), institutionally, sponsor three National Merit scholarships slots. That isn’t much compared to some other schools, but it isn’t zero. BTW, that’s 3 out of 20 NM finalists that entered Pitt in Fall 2011.

Based on prior years, scholarship letters should be coming soon. Both DS received their full-tuition scholarship letters in late Oct/Nov. time-frame. Pitt will super score your highest SAT and ACT scores. They did not send in ECs or recommendations. They did include an essay for scholarship consideration.

Pretty sure there will be a post as soon as the scholarship letters start arriving. Good luck everyone!

maybe I misunderstood on NM then but I believe current policy is no., they do not.

ok I checked e-mail and no, NMSF(which is all anyone would know at this point for class of 2014) is not a factor for scholarships.

ctl987…I wonder if on any level the Semifinalist designation could hurt. I mean, Pitt would have to know that semi kids would have some other schools with rankings not too far off from Pitt’s (they are now in the 60s I think) that will guarantee them some good money if they make finalist. Would that make Pitt seem like a safety?
Or, are you saying that as far as you know it neither helps nor hurts an applicant?

I checked my application status today and the listings under the requirements checklist are all checked. Does that mean my application is now ready for review?

^i second that question
