Accepted Class of 2018

hsgrad, as far as I know NM designation is a neutral and that;s the official policy. so having that designation would not hurt. personally, I think it could help. Pitt looks good if they enroll NM scholars. Regarding nice offers from other schools, all the more reason for Pitt to give NM kids decent scholarships as they;d be more likely to enroll at Pitt. My guess and it is only a guess is that it’s one of holistic factors Pitt looks at but they want to give the scholarship committee the most flexibility possible which is why it’s not "considered. For example, let;s say Pitt has 2 applicants, one with NM designation and one does not. However, the second has a higher SAT score and let’s say the second has done a lot of charity work over the years and taken a leadership role with these charities. pitt wants to keep its options open to give the non NM kid a lot of money so that’s why they have the policy they do. Just a theory.

My “required” checklist is all filled out… does anybody have an idea of when I will hear about an admissions decision?

tempe and others, i don;t know  My guess is Pitt has tons of apps now so the turnaround will be longer than people who applied in Sept. If you have strong stats for Pitt, I’d say a quick turnaround, hopefully one to three weeks. if good stats but not as strong as others, it could take longer as they will want to get a more holistic view of ur app. And I am just guessing here but maybe it will help you some.

I got accepted yesterday after applying 10/14 to the Dietrich School for Chemistry! 93/100 GPA (unweighted), 2090 SAT, 710 Math II, good ec’s

would you mind tell me when did they receive your sat score? I applied earlier than you but I sent my score last week and have not heard anythin back yet…

Got accepted to the school of nursing today! 630M 680CR; 3.7 GPA and decent extracurriculars. Pitt is my first choice school and I am thrilled. :)

Yeah l8rg!!! I remember u and am VERY happy to see this!!1 Welcome to the family :)

Hello everyone. I am new to CC and this is my first post. My son received his Pitt acceptance letter on 10/31 (Bioengineering). Today we got a letter in the mail regarding UHC but we don’t understand what it really means:

“I am writing to offer my congratulations on your acceptance for admission into the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, based on your outstanding academic record, I would like to encourage you to consider the opportunities available to you in the University Honors College.”

It went on describing the UHC programs. Does this mean his is eligible for UHC, or he is not admitted to UHC? We are confused. Anyone got the same letter? Does he needs to do anything in order to be admitted to UHC? Thank you for the help, and congratulations to everyone who has been admitted.

ocean, pretty sure that means they are in UHC if they want to be. my kid got the same letter

If pitt tells you they want additional information from you like the dec sat scores and semester grades, do they hold your spot or can they reject you once they get more applications?

If my application is complete as of today how long do you guys think it will be before I get a decision?

I think it means they are interested but would like to see you pull your GPA and SAT scores up. That is only a guess on my part. Current students can help answer the question better than me and it would be wise to contact pitt directly too. One poster here got something similar, pulled up one section of her SAT and has since been admitted.

and I should clarify. I think what they want to see are good solid grades your senior year, not necc a big GPA increase which can be hard to change this late in the game

On the 17th October, they told me they received everything and would give me their decision in 2 to 3 weeks. However, in just 5 days later (22nd Oct) I got an acceptance letter.

TurquoiseSnow, did they send you an email saying they received everything? My account sais I have submitted everything but I havent gotten any emails about a decision.

No, I didn’t get an email. I check my account everyday, and one day my account said they received everything. Good luck =)

You will get a letter in the mail before your account is updated (at least that is what happened with my acceptance).

Wait…Where can I log into this account? I applied almost a month ago and never received an email saying they’ve received everything.

If you didn’t receive any email from Pitt admission office yet, I think you should contact the office. FYI, the status check link is https://upoak.askadmissions.net/Vip/Default.aspx</a> (Pittconnect Login). My D applied early October and Pitt received her SAT late October but shed didn’t get acceptance letter yet. Pitt is still working on my D’s case, I think.

woo hoo I got my acceptance letter today in the mail. Swanson School of Engineering. Finally after two weeks of anxiety!

My son got his acceptance to Pitt Engineering School today!! It came almost exactly three weeks after they received his SAT scores.
