accepted/ denied uf transfer fall 2011

If you don’t mind me asking, which pre-health department?

That’s a good question. I wish I had a good answer, I think it’s was the public health and health professions college. However, it may have been CLAS.

It probably was public health… thank you =]

Applied for Fall 2011 to the College of Engineering as a Civil Major. Still waiting to hear back with the “Your application has been referred to your college…” message up. Overall GPA is a 3.81, and my pre-req GPA is better than that at the moment. Only thing that worries me is I still have 5 pre-reqs in progress to get my GPA, 2 this semester and 3 during the summer.

Anyone ever heard of someone getting accepted but under certain terms of getting a certain grade in your remaining courses? I’ve heard rumors of it but not from anyone directly. I’m not expecting to flunk anything, but my summer courses will be pretty tough which is the reason I ask.

I just got accepted last week into the College of Engineering as a transfer from a florida community college. As long as I receive my AA at the end of this semester I’m in. I had a 3.3 GPA

Congrats! That’s sick, when did you apply? I applied before the deadline but it was last minute since I didn’t find out I could take the rest of my courses until a few days before March 1st. I’m also coming from a Florida community college, I’ve been trying to not get my hopes up since I know its super competitive but thats actually good news. Did you have any EC’s?

cwest14, when exactly did you apply? I applied at last minute too, they received all my stuff on Feb. 24th and the page still says that they’re doing an initial review of my materials, please allow 2-4 weeks blah blah blah… How long ago did yours get referred to your college? mine is still stuck at admissions office :frowning:

And to answer your question, I read on last year’s forum that some people got accepted with the conditions of getting their AA at the end of the semester or had to complete certain classes with a C or better.

Congrats to all the ones that have been admitted already!

I actually submitted mine on the 28th of Feb or the 1st of March, I can’t remember exactly. I kept in contact with all of the Engineering admissions advisors around that time and kept checking with the Office of Admissions over the phone to make sure they recieved everything and to check my status. When I talked to them they said it takes some of the colleges within UF longer to get to applications than others, so I wouldn’t worry as long as all of the information they needed has been submitted. I know my status changed when I had returned from spring break, so somewhere around the 14th of March.

Thanks for that info! I don’t think I’m too worried about getting my AA by the end of summer with C’s, I was more concerned about them maybe asking for some classes to be completed with A’s or B’s.

I guess they just say C grade or better just for your GPA to not become significantly lower at the end of your semester… And I keep bugging the admissions people too like twice a week, and everyday they say the same thing: “oh it’s pending” finally I called again like 20 minutes ago and got something different, my high school transcript had to be sent to the international admissions department because I went to a foreign high school, and I have some credits from a foreign University as well, and they’re all hanging out at the international admissions department because apparently at the transfers department they don’t know how to figure out my GPA, so they’re now waiting for the transcripts to come back from the International Department so they can figure out my overall GPA… Does high school GPA matter, even if you have an AA from a Florida State College?

This whole process is so stressful, I just want to know admitted or rejected, I’m over it, I want to know so bad!!!

I have been through this once before (although not with Engineering) and yes, most of the colleges at UF do require you to finish your prerequisite classes with a B or better. That is why I did not get to go to UF last time. I am retaking a class that was a prereq, the only one I had left. They MIGHT be flexible if you get a B- or a C or something, but it really depends on your college and your relationship with them. And I don’t know if Engineering does this, so it may be different (I’m sure you could contact them and ask). It’s usually only with classes that you need for that specific major.

@cwest14 UF takes their prereqs pretty seriously. What prereqs do you have left to do? Even if you have a good GPA, people who have all their prereqs will have priority over you. If you do get admitted, you will probably have to get a B or better (not C) in your remaining prereqs since you have so many left, atleast that’s what the COE told me. You could always ask the department. Good luck.

@mtaulee89 Congratulations! What department did you apply for?

@kttn2103 What department did you apply for? Supposedly they evaluate your HS transcript for the HS foreign language requirement, but who knows.

joebobjoe; I applied for DCP, arcitecture major… When I was at FSCJ I took the CLEP for Spanish and got all 8 credits for it, so I have no clue what the fuss over my high school transcript is all about.

For anyone who is interested collegeweek live SPRING is happening until 4pm today. It’s live chatting with a UF rep. It’s not specific for individual colleges but if there are any broad topics that a regular admissions rep could answer that’s a good time to do it.

So, I decided to log on today during a random hour, and then jumped out of my seat haha:

Congratulations!!! Your application to the University of Florida for the Fall 2011 term has been approved!

Stats
3.63 GPA
Preprof 3.83
Microbiology in CALS

Congrats man, I’m excited to see that CALS is putting acceptances out, I really wish I’d applied earlier now.

Ok so my app was sent to the COE for a final decision. I made it through the first round and now I have to write an essay to be considered for the second round. The advisor said that the second, (and hopefully final round) decisions would be made in late April. I am going to stay positive. The advisor seems like she’s really trying to help me get through this. I just want to know already. I signed a lease at the Courtyards and the only way I can get out of the lease before May 1st with proof that I didn’t get in. I just pray that I get in!!

Congrats jdtrombone! You’re so lucky! I want to knowwww!

joebobjoe, that’s closer to what I had heard before. My prereqs left are pretty substantial ones like the last of my calc and physics courses, as well as DE. I honestly hadn’t even planned on applying for fall but the oppurtunity opened up for me to finish my AA during the summer, and after speaking with an admissions advisor in the College of Engineering, they strongly encouraged me to apply for fall 2011. Even with that, I know it’ll be tough to get in so I can’t say i’ll be surprised if I’m rejected especially considering I applied so late.

lauraec and jdtrombone, congrats!

@cwest14 Did you speak to a COE advisor or a departmental advisor?

joebobjoe, When I initially sent an email out to a few different advisors, I recieved a reply from an advisor within the College of Engineering that handled “transfer admissions applicants”.
