So I was accepted early action and paid my deposit fee and all that. What’s next? Are the next steps not until May or later when I can start requesting housing and enrolling in classes?
You don’t need to pay the deposit that early, but it is up to you if the decision has been made already. Now you should think about the dorm or residential programs. Learn about the different residential programs and affiliated dorm locations. Also, you may plan for your orientation schedule. It will start in early June till the end of August. You will register classes during the orientation. You also need to take placement exam in the orientation too. You can find out more info in the Spring Welcome Day visit if you are planning to go. If you are from OOS, you may skip that as it is not essential. You would rather spend the money on the trip for orientation. If you cannot afford an additional trip, you can choose the Fall orientation which is the weekend before the Fall semester.
@billcsho thank you! Michigan was my top choice school and I wouldn’t go anywhere else so I was a little trigger happy when I came to putting down the deposit. Thanks for the detailed reply! I’m assuming I’ll be notified of the orientation days and such by email once spring rolls around?
Yes, once you make the deposit, they will send you the notice for orientation registration when the schedule is fixed.
@tpete2000: It’s OK to be trigger happy. You applied. You want to attend. You got accepted. Pay that deposit and enjoy the rest o four senior year!
Take an orientation at as early a date as possible to secure the best class schedule. (registration takes place then)
