Accepted ED, can I drop a class?

I'm taking a full load in school of 6 classes (4AP and 2 normal) and 2 online classes (Honors Spanish 3 and AP Microecon). I'm about to be finished with microecon, but Spanish I'm still a ways off. I really don't have time to do it anymore either, so I keep getting more behind pace and eventually I will be kicked out. Do you think if I called Duke and explained why I needed to drop Spanish 3 they would take back my admission? I mean I have a 98 in the class, but if I drop out now since I'm more than a month into it the class will show up on my transcript as a WF (withdraw/fail)

Yeah, I’m in a similar situation.
I want to know who to call, though.

Anybody???

I don’t think they will like, but you could possibly get away with it. But since you are doing so well, they will be confused as to why you are dropping it. They may think you are just trying to slack off now that you have gotten in. If you really can’t handle the work anymore, you should write to Duke explaining your situation. Since you got in ED, they obviously want you as a student, so I think they should understand

It’s not that I wanna slack off, it’s that I don’t have time to “keep pace” as required. I’m still doing work and acing it, I just don’t have time to do it. And it’s gotten to the point where I’m so far behind where they’d like me to be that i’m about to get kicked out of the class.

Also, they’re processing my financial aid right now because of a mistake and it should be done by the end of the week. If I was to call now and ask could it hurt anything?

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, if you explain why. It wouldn’t affect your financial aid. That being said, I would wait a bit. It might look worse if you dropped it immediately following your ED admit.
But the bottom line is if Duke admits you, it’s because you’ve convinced them you can do Duke work. (Congrats!) When you hear the rumors of people getting admissions offers revoked it usually means their GPA has dropped several points and they clearly aren’t even pretending to care any more. Admissions folks accept the reality that grades might decline slightly spring semester senior year, but they expect you to still be going up to classes and performing more or less consistently with the rest of your transcript. You seem to doing this.
I would call the admissions office, and they’ll probably tell you not to worry about it. It sounds like you’re taking a fairly demanding course load. They might not give you a definitive answer, but they’re definitely not going to red-flag your app and trash your acceptance.
