Accepted EDII

I'm still shaking. So much nervousness. Good luck to everyone else.

Congratulations and welcome to CC! Breathe deeply and enjoy your accomplishment. My son tells me that other class of 2012 students are meeting on facebook. Not my world, but it may be a way to start feeling connected.

I second the motion! Enjoy the rest of your HS career. :)

I was also accepted. I am so excited! It all seems so unreal! And yeah, if you want to start meeting people Facebook is a great place.

Congratulations and welcome to CC ngladysn! You can now enjoy the rest senior year and have a little fun pondering those orientation adventures.

I don't know if these will help but I thought I'd post them anyway

credulouscit - you soiled all that good karma by listing those stats. Hopefully Pomona took you because they made a judgment about you as a person not as a set of stats. Forget the stats. They don't matter now. Keep it real . . .

you stats make me want to kill myself lol.
i applied to pomona and thought i had a chance of gettting in... but i am NOWHERE close to your stats wowww.

no, dont worry about it, its okay!
if i had scores like you i would be posting them every where lol.
im happy for you that you got in, though.
i only applied regular decision so i still have to wait about a month... and im going absolutely CRAZY!!

I just noticed people doing that a lot, so i thought it was standard. sorry if it bothers you.

yah me too!
i just started posting a couple weeks ago and thats the first thing i did... post my stats lol

ngladysn -

Congratulations on becoming a Sagehen!

Congratulations to both of you!

Credulouscit - I, for one, am glad you posted your stats. My S goes to a similarly rigorous school, with a similar GPA. I imagine you've worried about the GPA if you've read enough CC posts; it certainly has made us wonder about S's prospects at highly selective colleges. So you've given us hope :)

Do any of the admitted students have the dates for the admitted student visits during April? Just in case he gets in, it would be nice to have some idea of when to visit. Any details would be appreciated!

Oh yeah, I was quite a bit freaked out. One of the reasons I really only looked at liberal arts schools is that they give a lot more time to looking over the rest of the application besides the grades, but hey if I could do it, I'm sure your son will have a real shot. Good luck!

Credultouscit, thanks for posting your stats and congrats on getting in! Posting stats may seem like bragging to others, but the fact is that schools do consider stats for the most part, and those posted stats are a big help to prospective students still looking to get in. :)

Congrats! I think it's useful for other folks to see that a slightly lower GPA from a really tough school does mean something in the admissions process. I've seen too many people on CC who would bash a 3.55, when in fact, that GPA truly means something significant in the context of that school. Given that some posters may not want to disclose their school out of privacy concerns, that (understandable) lack of full context can skew how people react to a given GPA.

The Claremonts are great -- I have one S who applied to Mudd and the other is considering CMC or Pomona -- you'll get a fabulous education.

in no way did i think that the OP was bragging...
just that they were wayy good (especially sat's)
thats alll....
