haha, I had something weird like that happen to me too. I got an email saying "congratulations for getting accepted into the honors college" and "Hopefully the recent mailing informed you about the program, the scholarship and potential stipend." I was utterly confused because I had never received such mailing. Fortunately, I emailed back and she just said that the honors college acceptance letters were just sent out a day or two before, so some people hadn't received them yet.

How high of an ACT do you think I'd have to get to get in with a 3.14 GPA?
Or is it a stretch regardless?

14% of admitted students had below a 3.24 GPA, so it is still possible, but a stretch nonetheless. I'd say a 28+ on the ACT would definitely help your chances.

I got accepted...choosing it over Michigan too :]

GPA 3.8
ACT 27

Hi. Congratulations!

Just curious: Why are you choosing it over Michigan? Thanks.

if I applied/got into Michigan (hypothetically speaking, I haven't and won't apply, but if I did I would probably get in), I'd still choose MSU because they have an excellent honors program/professorial assistantships, great scholarships for OOS'ers, and the majors I want (and James Madison College, in particular)

I visited both schools...and Michigan State seemed to be a better fit for me than Michigan. Personally, I think Michigan is overrated..

Hi everyone.

My daughter was just accepted yesterday.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone know about scholarships? Are they offered at the time of acceptance (which means she didn't get one) or are they be offered later?

Bob, my daughter was accepted as well, and about a week or two later she was offered admission to the Honors College and a nice scholarship as an out of state student. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Scholarships come all times of the year. I guess maybe top OOS students get some offers when applying. MSU looks over applications and some of the most talented are invited to the ADS competition in January at MSU. It's a two day visit to MSU and they take a extremely hard test to win scholarships. My son went to that but didn't win anything but there are also all kinds of scholarships MSU gives out in the spring that you may have to apply for (MSU will mail letters saying you can try for certain ones) or they just choose you based on info they have. My son did receive a nice scholarship late in the spring. It was a happy surprise.

Thanks for the replies, JustaMom and Shyanne--even though I didn't proofread my post carefull and said "are they be offered later." Obviously I won't be getting any awards!!!

That's ok, with all of the stuff these kids have to do these days, I'm not sure I could even get into college, let alone graduate high school! :)
