Accepted for fly-in means likely admission?

Okay, I must be bored… but my DD1 applied for four diversity fly-ins, was accepted to three, is going to two. I’ve heard it said that if you make the cut for the diversity fly in you will very likely be admitted to the school, and that if you didn’t make the cut, you may still have a chance.

What do others think? Especially interested in those whose kids participated in fly ins.

I think it improves her chances. She still needs to acquit herself well at the fly in and put together a solid application. But it isn’t like an early write. :slight_smile:

I think it means that she made the first cut. An admissions decision won’t be made until the full application is reviewed including LORs, essays etc. I wish her luck.

Any positive results we note would just be anecdotes, no way to know for certain. But for many kids, these trips, the time among peers, helps them evaluate a school and what they want, in general. It can also depend on the overall competition for an admit.

So the jury is out as to either it’s helpful or not for admissions, BUT helpful to the applicant in evaluating the fly-in college.

@Momto2girls
D just came back from a diversity visit. She was told by an AO that if she applied ED, she was basically guaranteed acceptance. I agree that it’s great for evaluating a college either way.

I’ve heard this before. There you have it. In general, Colleges LIKE admitting qualified applicants ED. Admitting qualified diversity applicants ED is a no-brainer.
