Accepted for the Class of 2010

Im considering applying and want to know the lowdown.

dont bomb the SATs

The weather doesn't suck. You either go to ski or smoke, oftentimes both, and the weather is sick. If you can't deal with the cold stay down south.

I was accepted into class of 2010. 3.0 GPA from a new england prep school, with great extra curriculurs and work experience, 2170 SAT, 640 U.S. History, 640 Italian, 510 Latin SAT II's, 29 ACT, and a really good essay.

I applied sort-of as my safety school since it was the only school on my list where I was likely to get accepted, but not really my saftey because I wanted to go more than some other places. I didn't get in anywhere else, or even waitlisted.

I got the Pres. Scholarship for $2k a year, and then a few other financial aid grants totaling about $16k a year. The rest is loans.

maya, everything about uvm sucks, literally everything. DO NOT GO HERE. and cat, you got into bowdoin and waitlisted at uvm? they must have realized you're too smart for them? i just finished an awful year at UVM and am transferring to Harvard. i was in a senior political science seminar and people didn't know what the persian gulf war was. if you think phish and GAP consitute culture, you'll love burlington. if you think drinking natty lite and watching TV all day are fun, you'll love UVM. if that's what you want in college, by all means apply or attend. but to everyone else, i'm warning you, it's AWFUL. i wanted to yell that out when i saw students walking by on admitted students day. UVM doesn't care about their students at all-- there was construction going on outside of my dorm seven days a week, starting at seven AM and finishing at 6PM, including finals week and weekend. I had a 12 hour a week internship with Senator Leahy downtown and couldn't even get it. Ambition crawls off to die at UVM-- stay far, far away...

i meant to write "I couldn't even get credit" for my internship- which is absurd, I was taking five classes, three of them upper level, and interning 12 hours a week. how ridiculous.

so...how well did you do at UVM to get into harvard? I am thinking about doing a yeart at UVM and transfering seeing as i didint get into my top choice schools.
