Accepted for UCF fall term! What dorm should I live in?

I just got accepted to UCF for fall 2013! yayyy
Now as an incoming freshmen, which dorm would you guys most recommend I stay at? Any positive and negative feedback would be helpful!
thanks(:

Congrats!!! I’ll see you on campus, I’ll be a freshman as well.

Awesome! I’m so excited!

Congrats!! I’m still waiting for mine, when you’d apply?

I can shed some light on dorm options for those of you who will be attending UCF, since I’m currently a freshmen now. I’ll go through all your possible options, and include the good and the bad!
-Towers: What’s NOT to like about the Towers? A good bit, actually. The Towers are located by the UCF arena, and are the nicest dorms on campus-they should be, they’re the most recently built. It’s apartment style, and the great; If you can get past the absurd price, and the anti-social atmosphere. They do NOT come cheap, and it all depends on whether or not you can afford it. However, as a freshmen I don’t suggest staying in the towers. When people say they’re not that far from classes, they’re lying. They really are pretty far from everything. Also, I have a few friends, also freshmen, who stay in towers, and are always commenting on how no one ever gets to know each other there. The vast majority of students in the towers are upperclassmen, who have already established their group of friends, and aren’t interested in really getting to know anyone else. As a freshmen, you will not want to be in a dorm that isn’t inviting and social, because you’ll want to make friends. This dorm is at the bottom of my list, personally. Great for upperclassmen, not underclassmen.
-Lake Claire: Lake Claire is an apartment style dorm, for freshmen only, and I can’t shed too much light on it. I’ve never been inside, but in terms of how it looks, I’ve heard it’s not the best. A bit run down, but it is one of the older dorms. But since it’s only freshmen, you can expect to be surrounded by students in the same age range, and similar situation, which is great! You’ll have your own kitchen, which is a great aspect. However, it doesn’t really have an ideal location. But I can’t shed much personal light on this dorm.
-Apollo: I’m in Apollo a LOT, pretty much three times a week. My best friend and boyfriend room in Apollo, and honestly, they love it. I never heard good things about the dorm, seeing as it IS the oldest on campus. However, I’ve come to really like the dorm. You have access to your dorm through the outside, so there’s no doors with closed off hallways, if that makes since. Really great location-right next to market place, right by the reflection pond, close to the student union, and pretty close to the gym. Apollo has an interesting room layout-there’s a small common room, where you can put a table and furniture, and three doors. Two of them lead to two actual rooms, which is shared by two roommates, and one leads to the bathroom. The rooms are pretty spacious, and while you can tell they’re old, I actually do like them. Social wise, it’s not TOO social. We’ll have small get togethers with movies, and known on other peoples doors in the hall, and no one ever answers. But the dorm is pretty cool, with a good location!
-Libra: Libra comes in two styles-L shape, and pod style. You can see the L-shape style on youtube, and pod style on the UCF housing site. I’ve been in Libra a good amount, as my friends stay there, too. Pod style has a common room on each floor, which is VERY social, which is the best part about libra. However, it kind of gives off a ‘bomb shelter’ feel, in my opinion (As well as others). The rooms are decent sized, but it has cinder block walls, which adds to that ‘jail’ feel. It’s basically your typical college dorm. But it’s VERY social, which may be enough for you to pick it.
-Nike/hercules: I’ll probably be bias on this one, but I can give you a good review, because I lived here during summer term, and right now for fall. I LOVE it here. The courtyard looks like a hotel resort of some kind, and the dorms are very nice. The rooms are a bit narrow, but they have high ceilings, good closet space, and the bathrooms are actually VERY nice, which wasn’t expected. It gives you a dorm feel, but also gives you a hotel feel. It’s location is great-right next to the pool, right behind the gym, and just a short walk from market place and classes, and a little distance from the student union. Social wise, it all depends-you can have social people on your floor, or not. We don’t (Which is fine, they’re pretty rude, anyway) but our friends who live in nike/hercules dorm have a VERY social floor. It just all depends who lives in your hall. By far my favorite dorm, as it looks very, very new! Highly suggest this dorm, for a freshmen.

Hope I could help out a bit! Congratulations on your acceptance-if you choose to attend, you’ll love it here. UCF is an amazing, dynamic college. Go knights!:)

Thanks Writefluidity, I was hoping you would answer this question. You have been very kind in answering questions on this forum.

By the way, how did you, or whom ever, start the facebook page for your class?

No problem! I enjoy it!

Actually, one guy who was on this site just started up a ‘UCF class of 2016’ page, and everyone from here joined. Then their friends on facebook, who were going to UCF joined, and it was a ripple affect. It went from 100them kids, to over 2,000 really quickly:)

Just got accepted too!! So excited. I’m actually surprised that it was so soon because they still have not received my Oct SATs.

Thanks! all this is really helpful!
