Accepted fordham acting students....

Did you receive an academic decision with your artistic decision?

I think it was a kind of overall holistic decision. It came with forms to fill out for housing, etc. But there was a choice at the auditions to be considered for admission if not accepted to the auditioned majors, so I think if you clicked “yes” to that choice and were not admitted to the acting major, you would roll into the regular pool, who have not yet been notified. From what I understand, you can take acting classes as a non-major and minor in acting.

Okay, thanks. I haven’t heard anything yet so should I just be expecting a rejection?

I don’t know! So sorry-- I did not mean to imply that. Some of these schools seem to accept people in waves, or keep a pool or wait-list. I hope you get good news ASAP!

No, I’m sorry! I’m just really nervous so I think I am reading way too much into everything! The reason I wanted to know if academic decisions get sent with the artistic decision is because I applied for admission into another academic program in the school, and they have yet to call me with my phone interview. So no word from the acting program, or the other program I applied too. This is too much for my teenage brain to handle by myself! lol

AthenaL, this process is so stressful! I totally understand how you are straining for any clue of what is going on. Things were so much easier in the old days when everyone just waited for news to come in the postal mail. I have been looking at the Fordham forums and it seems that most Fordham applicants have not yet been notified:

Thank you so much! I know I am freaking out, but in a weird way this process is teaching me how to let go and be patient. At least something good came from it!

I am not entirely sure if Fordham sends early acceptances to ALL accepted Theatre students or just some who they feel are a great fit for the program and really strong applicants bc they also send early acceptances to “highly qualified” applicants in other majors. The vast majority of applicants will receive their decision the last week of March and while you can be rejected from the Theatre major and still be accepted to Fordham into another major, you cannot be accepted into the Theatre major if you aren’t accepted academically.

For the past two years, all the early acceptances were notified by letter and had to wait for the enrollment and FA package which came together at the same time all the other decisions went out. It seems they changed things up a bit this year and sent out the enrollment package with the early acceptance letter but people are still waiting for FA packages and most applicants will not be able to decide whether they will attend Fordham without it. So AthenaL, I wish you luck as you wait for your decision! A LOT of people are still waiting!

@sandkmom They did specifically state this year at the Fordham auditions that academic acceptance and artisitic acceptance would be in the same envelope. They also made it clear that you could be excepted to both or just academic or not accepted at all…

I just spoke with the Office of Admission at Fordham LC. They said that they are sending out the decisions as they make them; there really is no rhyme or reason or “set date”. Hope :)
