Accepted into college POOR ACT SCORES!!!??

hello i recently moved to florida from ohio i applied to two schools UCF & FAMU...what do you think my chances of getting into either schools would be i took the act the first time i recieved a 16 & i am going to take it again on oct.23rd hopefully i will recieve a better score. i graduated top 50% of my class but i always do poor on my test....can anyone help me???

Ohio…if you want to post a “chances” post, you probably want to go to back up…find the forum area that you want to post on…and then look for “new thread” in that area. This particular area is financial aid and scholarships. Someone might do “chances” here…but not as likely as other places on CC.

i think i did it right; thank you i am still trying to figure this thing out!

You might want to correct the spelling of your location…

you might do better on tests if you check your work for mistakes.

with a 16, you won’t likely get accepted to FSU unless you’re a recruited athlete.

The BOTTOM 25% of students at FSU have an ACT 23 and below. So, someone with an ACT 16 isn’t likely going to get accepted.

I’m not familiar with FAMU.

hey thank you didnt see that & i wanted to know about UCF not FSU? & okay i figure that would be the answer. my gpa was 3.6 last i checked i was very involved & was vice president of my class but me & test just dont seem to get along even my counselor in high school didnt understand how my grades were pretty decent i always made honor but when it came down to test my brain would frezze & she was telling me it would probably be difficult for me to get into a good college that i would like. I guess i should consider going to a community college or something beggars cant be choosers at this point;/

^Exactly 10char.

Do you know why you do so poorly on standardized tests? Is it nerves? Do you not have enough time to finish? Have you taken practice tests? If so, how did you do? There seems to be a real disconnect between your GPA and ACT score – a teacher or tutor may be able to help you figure out what the problem is and improve your testing ability.

national average is 21 I wouldn’t give that much of a shot, but maybe you’ll get lucky.

@ milkweed no i do not know why i dont do well on test. My teachers said its more than likely because i over think it. Which is probably true but I cant help it. It’s like when I take a test I either over think it or I freeze up. & I think its because when I know I want something bad I just try to hard & then mess it all up. I have been taking practice online everyday but they dont have a timer so its really difficult for me to know rather i am doing good. Do any one know any good sites that i could take practice test? @ KervinS23 21…i dont think i could get that going from a 16 to 21 whoa…i wish:)
