Accepted into Hutton Honors College!

Just got my acceptance letter.... how is HHC? Is it competitive? Is it easy to get into?>

I think you are invited to the Honors College based on GPA. Anyway, congratulations! Be sure to fill out the Honors College scholarship application. My son put it off until it was too late and probably lost out on some much-needed money.

Congratulations on your acceptance to HHC. The college itself allows you to take a wide variety of courses that are not open to other students or to take "Honors" versions of courses that the other students take. There is no separate Honors program as such in terms of degree or major. However, if you take the necessary courses you receive a "honors" designation at graduation.

P.S. There are also separate "honors" available through certain majors. Once you decide on a major, you might want to consider applying to one of these programs in addition to the general honors program.

D is accepted to Honors College but we are not aware of HHC scholarship application. Does D has to fill out other scholarships applications after being accpeted to HHC? There are no forms along with the acceptance letter from HHC.

i think they just review the selective scholarship app for scholarships

Did you get into the Honors college before you filled out the separate application? I also haven't gotten a letter from Kelly saying I'm in there. I just got a letter saying I'm in Indiana and the selective scholarship app which I think is an application to the Honors College.

you have to fill out the selective scholarship application and send that in before the deadline.

then they will consider you for huttons

There is a separate, quite extensive, application for Honors College scholarships, unless that procedure has changed. I believe my son received the application form with his Honors College acceptance. The application was due around the first of February, I believe. It is also possible that the form is not yet available, as my son wasn't accepted until December or January. You might check on the Honors College website.

I don't know about the selective scholarships application, as my son never received that--perhaps because he is a music student.

Also, how does applying to Kelley or the School of Journalism work? What extra stuff do you have to include in the application? How hard is it to get accepted?

According to this website, there is a separate scholarship application for Honors College. (I posted this same site in another thread.) Also be sure to accept your invitation to Honors College. You aren't automatically in when you get the invitation letter, but must do whatever it says to accept. (I forget what that was.)
